And the DaSilva tackle wasn’t a red, but it was extremely foolhardy from someone just coming back from a three match suspension for an almost identical misjudgment.
It's like a death wish from some of them lately, don't know what it is,do have suspicions though, owner related.

I wonder if we’ve got a reputation for going down easily amongst refs. A lot of these shouts have been bodily contact rather than kicks or trips.
i think there may be something in this. In my opion both Wright and EMC go down a lot and sometimes quite easily. I was annoyed with EMC at one point in the first half as they were on the attack, he didnt get the foul but stayed down to try and 'save face.' he wasnt injured and it could have cost us. I think perhaps refs are getting a bit sick of the diving so pushed them too far the other way.

Yeah, they could probably do with picking their moments a bit better.

EMC is such a physical player. I think sometimes he doesn't get decisions that he should because of that, but there are definitely also times where he goes down too easily. And if the ref is constantly waving away appeals like that it then becomes easier to wave away the penalties too.

Sky ref said both were pens that’s got to be nearly 10 this season
At this point you’d hope that the refs would recognise they keep getting it wrong and act accordingly
If you go purely on those another official has said should have been given, it probably is. Which is mental seeing as the most awarded to any team this season is 4.

We have been in our opponents box way more than any other team so that’s probably why
I get that there is a higher threshold for a penalty the two for me that were so bad was weight v Ipswich and the emc one on Saturday
I can’t get my head around then ref not giving them
Now having said that I want to see wright stay on his feet as much as he can you can’t say emc goes down easily he literally always stays on his feet

Andrew Kitchen from county Durham is the referee against Millwall. Although nothing official he is likely to support either Sunderland or Middlesbrough. Terrific! No penalty to us there then.

Thought he was OK, yeah. Gave some more of the innocuous stuff that sometimes gets frustratingly let go. I'll need to watch our disallowed goal back to see if he really did interfere with play, but it seemed harsh in real time. Both Grimes and Haji went down looking for pens, I didn't think either of them were in real time from 17

Ok - I've just watched dit back. I don't think he's offside, flag goes up far too quickly in my opinion. Haji doesn't move to the ball or anything. Another example of a match we've won despite the refereeing. There's a big decision going wrong in every single match at this season. Fans from other clubs must surely be seeing the same as us.

Yep flagged too soon
Way too soon
The assistant did the same at the other end too
Ref said as such
So i suppose they were consistent but could have easily have let it run on

Thoughts on referee yesterday?

Obviously him/the team missed the elbow (Lino should have picked that up).

I know you never see them given, but does anyone else think we should have had a penalty for the foul on Eccles after his header by the goalkeeper?

Yes I thought we should have had penalty for the punch to Eccles but I believe the ref probably unsighted so not blaming him.

Equally clearly BTA should have been shown a red but again ref wouldn’t have seen it. And possibly Saka too.

Apart from those thought the ref did ok and didn’t contribute to our poor result and performance

Missed three key issues between the 3 of them
Bta red card
Eccles pen
Saka getting kicked and his retribution

Referee and linesman unsighted, but they did ok.

Think the Eccles one is the sort only VAR gives these days. A bit like the Morocco pen in AFCON which if we got given we’d get and give one away every game.

Would have been harsh in one sense, but I can honestly see VAR giving that, once it's slowed down to a frame by frame

Yeah I mean, if the keeper gets there first and punches it away and Eccles is half a step too late the ref would give the keeper a free kick, so why's it not the same the other way

What I don't get is that every time Wright went near the defenders it was a foul but they striker was all over Kitching and Thomas every time. Don't get me wrong, he was a nuisance and it worked for them but can't give free kicks against Wright when he does it.

Esse got booked, their players did the same a few times and didn't get booked.

Yep, Keeper was nowhere near the ball and punched Eccles in the face. Not sure how that isn't counted as a foul?

BTA, deffo should have been a red but no idea why the lino didn't see it?

Saka, not sure it was a red, he was kicked a couple of times before hand.
