The real question is - is £6m the price we’d want to pay to bring that chant back “heee’s Brazilian 🇧🇷 “ - I say yes!

is this the idea that anyone who isn't into Hamer coming back is just butthurt from him leaving? I'm glad we sold him for what we did and bought a chunk of this squad. Expect that's how a lot of folks see it.
it’s more the bollocks that he’s fat, shit, over the hill when he won champions POTS last year. He would add loads to this squad

Hamer would be a better player if he took his fitness more seriously. But even though he could be a better player he is still a very good player.

I'm not bothered if he comes back or not, but if he did I would be happy to see him back. And at the moment we're 14m up on him. Pay 5.5m with the 10% sell on and we're still 8.5m up. We used the original fee to help build this side so getting him back 3 seasons later would be decent.

But would they sell to us? 🤔

and Rudoni got about as many goals and assists as Hamer last season. Sh*t changes. You're talking like Hamer is guaranteed to tear it up for 20 games based on a bang average first half of the season. I'm not convinced.

Do they actually owe us 6 million ?
It was reported before the season started that something like 6.5m was still owed. But this is the 3rd year of the payments being made (normally 3 years in total) so could be the same and they need to raise 6m for the payment.

They have blown their Prem money. That's why they've got a poor squad to normal. Wouldn't surprise me if true.

Well you’re very naive then and fickle

Even if we wanted him, and he was available for an affordable price, why would he agree to the significant wage reduction he'd have to accept here?

Whoever signs him is going to have to match his current wages. We won't.
Im sick and fucking tired of constantly reading "we cant afford the wage he'd expect" and "wages will be an issue".

People need to stop going on like we're a fucking L2 club still! Outside of fringe players (ie your Perry and Andrews type players) I doubt you'd find many, if any, players in the PL on less than £30k a week. IF we want to stay up next season, how many players that are capable of playing to that standard do you think will come and do it for less than £30k a week? Zero! Thats how many.

If an opportunity presents itself (Bamford, Hamer, Wilson) do we stand here and bitch over a few grand in wages like a L2 club with 5k fans? Or do we suck it up and look at it as a down payment on the PL money to come? Whilst fans and the owner are still stuck in lowly L2 ideas of wages, we'll not get the quality of player we need for a survival push in the PL.

Whilst im not saying we go and sign a player on £150k a week, £40k for a player of Hamers class isnt exactly gonna bankrupt us.

If people on here think £40k wage is too high, I can't wait for the meltdown when we're in the PL and our marquee signing is on £100k. bUt WhAt AbOuT tHe OtHeR pLaYeRs EaRnInG lEsS? iTs NoT fAiR!

No, more that: If we didn’t know about him because he had played for us before, it would be a midfielder with premier league experience who would clearly add something to our squad at the bare minimum. Take knowing that he played for us out of the equation and he adds something.

“Butthurt” and “money we got for him” take that out.

He’s a fucking good player.

All that said, doubt he’s coming anyway.

I get that. Let's pretend he signs - which he won't, like you said! - and it's sorted by next week. Do we need or want to drop £6m on someone who might play 10-15 games and not cut it if we went up?

Feels like too many risks or downsides incl. pissing off the squad re: wages, and I'd hope we could find someone who's a better fit for the squad and the club's position for that kinda money. Not into it.

£6m is a drop in the ocean compared to getting promoted

But we know he can cut it if went up. He got blades POTS in their PL season. Alone, he might not be good enough to keep us uo, but hes a good starting point to build a decent team around him.

Like you say, its not happening and this is all hypothetical. But id rather drop £6m on Hamer, than an an unknown quantity elsewhere.
