Why was he left one on one in defence when we were attacking?
Normally DaSilva hangs back in defence for the corners and long throws and Grimes hangs back nearer the penalty area to try and pick up any loose ball.

Brau was not deep enough and tried to head it instead of letting it go and running back to pass to Rushworth. Bad judgement.

Just a thought / observation but I always thought it was MVE as the last man defence cover - his pace usually enough to get back and tidy up.

Last dozen or so games he’s been taking more throws from left leaving him badly out of position, potentially, against a break on (our) right.

I know we need Thomas to have as a recipient for a long throw but maybe look at him throwing in from left.

Yeah my bad I guess MVE hangs back for corners but I think DaSilva takes that role when MVE takes the long throws.

But a lot of teams put all players in the box to defend set pieces. However If they leave a player up you can't be in a one on one situation in defence.

Thinking about it, we score lots from set pieces - possibly down to us putting our CD’s in the box near the keeper / on the line. As a result we are vulnerable on the break, often covered by MVE’s pace.

I guess we need a quick left side equivalent

One thing the coaches need to get a grip on and quickly is this ridiculous habit of trying to buy free kicks. It often puts us right on the back foot or stops a useful attack. It’s all the time with some
Absolutely. Eccles needs to stay off his Arse-5-6 times yesterday trying to “buy” free kicks instead of staying on his feet. It’s just lazy football.

And it backfires too. Remember Lati at Norwich last season?

Yes, he was annoying me yesterday. Plus his constant moaning at the referee.

I am not saying a CD has to cover at the back when we have set pieces. Just don't leave someone one v one. It is usually Dasilva and MVE. One is fine when the opposition have everyone back defending. Plush Rushworth is normally halfway between the penalty area and the halfway line sweeping up any long clearance.
