Love your defeatest attitude ;)
It's not defeatist. I'm just disagreeing with your opinion on a player. He's the stereotypical good in the Championship not good enough for the Prem.

In the season he played in the Prem he scored 2 goals.

In the last 4 seasons he has missed 50 league games which is a similar amount Sheaf missed and everyone said he's a sick note.

Not worth the transfer fee Norwich want or wages he would want if we are looking for Prem quality players.

Every other team will strengthen around us
I get the sentiment and obviously realise we need a few in the door, but many teams around us will try to strengthen and fail to bring in the right players. There is no guarantee that other teams Jan transfers will actually help them.

Harrison Burrows anyone ?
Looked a good player at Preston.
Realistically though Everton are short on players (see subs bench for previous game), so will probably keep him, but this is why it's better to own players rather than loan them in ie the parent club recalling them, and leaving you in the shit.

Looked good at Derby last season, would be a good signing to pad out the midfield

heard there’s 2 been lined up for a while but looking at that bench against Ipswich, we’ll need a couple more, got no cover for EMC or saka and Simms the only option up front, we can’t be just bringing players in to make the numbers up, we need players who can come in straight away, we need to get this spot on, biggest worry might be keeping Lampard,

He will stay at Everton, probably been recalled due to their own squad issues / lack of depth.

Who's likely to be available in the loan market - tried and tested, rather than an exciting prospect? That's a more interesting question I think than x player for y million...
