I really like BTA. Seems a genuinely great guy.

His goals this season have been an unbelievable surprise but don’t let it cloud your judgement of him as a player. He’s very limited. He plays with his head down, can’t spot a pass, and runs into blind alleys.

We need him back for his goal contribution and squad depth but I very much doubt he can step up another league should we get there.
Fans should be prepared to alter the long held opinions when performances improve drastically in front of their very eyes, there is nothing clouding my judgement. BTA has been outstanding this season. He's pacy, he's strong, he's prepared to shoot. I'm not saying he'd be a Prem superstar or that he'd start depending on who we bring in but he deserves a go as much as anyone this season.

The inevitable highlights link, for those like me that don't follow football generally (only the city) and had never heard of him.

Looks to me that he's better than Haji all round but especially with his head and ball retention.

He'd be a ridiculous signing, anyone suggesting otherwise is a certified lunatic. Can't see it happening though.

How and why would this happen when he could go to a lower Premier League club quite comfortably?

Just not seeing why he’d drop to the Championship after being at Roma and the clubs he has been at.

He'd be an brilliant signing for this season and would have long-term potential. Despite scoring for Roma recently, I'm not sure he'll stay there.

I imagine it'd be a loan with a view to signing him if promoted.

Can’t see Evan Ferguson happening - if it does I for one would eat my words. Likewise he’d also play more games for us than his Dad even did when he was on the books in our PL years.

Oh I get that’s how we would likely structure it, I’m just failing to see why he would choose to come here!

For what it’s worth his Ferguson games/stats… wouldn’t be exactly licking your lips with excitement.

Get his still young at 21 & got bags of potential, yet that would probably cost you more than we sell Haji for, as I said on previous post measured risk & a costly one.

The Roma mentioned his lack of commitment and attitude on his current loan. They don't want him to continue his loan

Yeh I’ve heard & seen that - my thought is there’s more potentially suitors out there other than us. Unless we’re offering the most money to Brighton in whatever deal is or isn’t on the table we won’t be first to the table imo.

Google says: was at one stage valued at £65m. Brighton were willing to sell for £25m in the summer but he went on loan to Roma with a EUR 40m option.

Also says Haji value is between £10m - 12m.

I don't think this is impossible. We'd only need an extra £10m or so to top up proceeds from a Haji sale.

Further, we know Brighton want to sell and we are about the right level for him. And being top of the league and his family connection could make it attractive to the player.

If he can find form here we have massively strengthened an area where we have been weak (my opinion, I know others disagree).

Just to rattle people - here’s Sporting Life’s team of the year so far…

We’d need to replace the best striker in the league 🤔 but hey Haji is shit 💩 😂

I'm afraid there are a lot of fans who throw out 'effort' and 'commitment' as reasons to beat players over the head. Happened at Southampton when we were down to 10 and a few morons were screaming at Wright for not closing down one of the three Soton centre halves. Frank is right - the levels of these teams means you're just wasting energy if you don't or can't press together (pretty tough 10 vs 11). But hey, Sean Flynn tried and he won us a lot of trophies sooooooo

hope they hit the ground running on day 1

which is why it's a risk I'd probably not take if it was my neck on the block. I've not seen anything credible that says he'll leave or that a replacement is lined up. Ideally a new winger and midfielder spark us and him back to life a bit.

It's mad that it's nearly 2026 and we're still bringing Jamie Allen off the bench to try and change a game.

Hopefully we've got a couple of deals ready to go early in the window.
But a Jamie Allen "type" of player would have been very handy in the last month

This is the point, dont mean to rude but people just dont understand what they are bellowing/demanding expecting A PLAYER to constantly close down a GK or centre half when they have the ball - as above, its just wasted energy, energy we want being used when you are free, through on goal. Appreciate its a tough watch at times, but thats also the game plan, you jump out then you give them an easy out and open us up.

its just far more nuanced than just "close him down ffs".

*Im not totally defending a haji, as there is absolutely times where he can do better, first goal on monday night for example, on heels, gets beaten too easily.

Rushworth to sign permanently if we get promoted by the looks of things

His price might have risen after that save in the first half on Monday night. Memories of Gordon Banks against Pele. Extraordinary
