Haji shite (7 Viewers)

The black player lazy trope is distasteful and patently untrue. Subconscious racism.
No player that makes it to the top in elite football is lazy or gets picked in our team.
Why does Lampard consistently pick Haji? Simple, because he is a very good footballer and goalscorer, as evidenced by his goals scored. He contributes with movement to create space for other players and defensive assistance at set plays.
Haji has been an integral part of the team that is top of the league.
Every player, especially strikers go through slack periods.
Cherry picking the odd poor performance only supports the wealth of evidence that you are choosing unrepresentative events to support a spurious argument.
I’m not buying into this.

The colour of your skin shouldn’t give you an excuse to not fight for every ball and put in 100%

Haji sometimes coasts through. BTA on the other hand chases every ball. Nobody calling BTA lazy.

Cyrille was sometimes a bit lazy. I also thought Micky Quinn was lazy, he hardly chased every ball. Both great players. Both took it easy. Don’t care about the shade of their skin.

Virtue signalling to excuse Haji not putting same effort as BTA or Tats or EMC doesn’t make you some kind of white knight protecting him from the evil racists. A lot of Cov fans think he’s a great talent that needs to up his effort a bit. It’s not racist to say so.

Wright has next to no agression in his press, look at the difference between him and BTA. Doesnt make Haji any less of a top player he’s a prolific goalscorer and there isnt many I’d rather on the end of a ball in the penalty box.
Wright gets lazy connotations because he’s very casual and relaxed its a fair point its not a racial thing its a playstyle/personality thing

How long can it go on and people still keep waiting for it to happen. It’s getting to Tyler walker levels. Simms scored a few then gets dropped…
Give it a rest you racist c**t

the people who got upset with him for not pressing the keeper when he and rudi had been clearly told to not press and to block the central passing lanes instead proper pissed me off
Anyone with half a brain could see that was the instructions

What service did he have?
We got overrun in midfield and feel like today is a snapshot of what to expect from Grimes in the Prem. Absolute Rolls Royce in the championship but I’ve always felt like he’d struggle in the Prem. His worst games for us have been v Burnley and Ipswich 2 times.

Both Ipswich games came at points where the squad depth was short and to be honest, that was probably the difference. Jack Clarke has been a rotated with Philogene this season and we simply do not have that quality of player to call upon outside the stating 11.

I’m not worried about the result tonight, Leeds battered Ipswich in 23/24 twice and Ipswich still finished above Leeds.

There was a bloke a couple of rows back today just abusing Wright from the start of the game to the second he went off. Calling him "lazy", "useless", "c**t", etc.

Top of the league, Wright second leading goalscorer and still he gets abuse from his own fans. I despair.
Whats your thoughts on him now Torch? He is dramatically losing fans with his lack lustre 'performances' and some lunatics are saying put Simms on instead but unfortunately he's not the answer either!

Simms may not be the answer long term, but when all you do all game is punt crosses into the box all night he should definitely be starting over Wright.

A lot of racists desperate to out themselves. Always knew they were right wing but the desperation to call a black player ‘Lazy’ and justify it is sad

He's just gone a quarter of the season without scoring and in that time has delivered very little else to the side.

His goalscoring record is there for all to see but when he's shit he's so badly shit it's unbearable and I'm losing patience with him.

The service last night in particular was horrendous . Could have had Harry Kane up top and it would have made no difference

Wright is economical with his energy on the pitch... I don't mean that in a negative way: he conserves energy for key moments in a game. Trouble is, he just isn't getting the supply he was earlier in the season, which is making him look poor. I remember thinking that Wright would start scoring again when Torp was back in, but now Torp lacks knackered (along with some others), it is having a knock on effect. It is a conundrum for Lampard to sort out: it is far too easy to just blame a striker when they are not scoring.

My gut feeling is a couple of good additions to the squad (seems Leo Castledine may be one of them) will add much needed energy and freshness and improve things i.e. I still think Wright will come good and score important goals for us in the 2nd half of the season.

Quality is high and capable of brilliance,
but doesn’t give us enough through the game, has the odd game where he does. Incredibly frustrating and honestly if we could get £20m I’d sell.

He won 1 of 7 aerial duels. There's his service, he did nothing with it.
After the first 10 mins it was clear last night wasnt going to be our night. And on nights like that you need something different from your strikers. You dont expect goals from them on nights like last night. You dont expect Huckerby esque mazey runs round 6 players. You expect an outlet to relieve pressure off your defence to reset and regain their shape.
Ie, the ball is coming long. Win that ball, hold it up and make sure it doesnt immediately come straight back. If you do that it gives the defence half a chance to push away from the 18 yeard box and get their shape. Not once did he manage that last night. 6'3" playing like he's 5'1".
Just look back at the first goal last night. Granted, EMC should've gone left to Rudi, but he didnt. Wright's effort to get to the ball first is non existent then he just stops. Makes absolutely zero effort to follow the ball back and make up for losing it as easily as he did. After the ball is taken off of him so easily, it is then slowed down with a backward passes, he could easily put the effort in and pressure the player but just stands and watches him hit a perfect 30yard diagonal. So perfect because its so easy because he's under zero pressure and has all the time in the world to do what the fuck he wants. It might aswell have been a free kick Wright gave him that much time and space!
Hes not a team player in the slightest. Hes lazy and greedy.
I thought id of calmed down a bit having slept on it, but id happily see him go in January

I would disagree with you on Harry Kane , Kane would come back into midfield and win the ball and maybe Wright should watch Kane and maybe learn something.

You know who would have been pressing their keeper all night long, regardless of what Frank said? Norman Bassette.

Was saying the same to my mate last night in Block 15. It was clearly an instruction; not the player being 'lazy'. Some people are thick, just bellowing at him to close down the keeper.

Same as when EMC sometimes doesn’t track back. I think that’s an instruction.

Clearly not instructed to do so though

Crikey. When are we going to stop knocking Wright. Also, when will we understand his game? He’s not a target man. He will run in behind and cause all sorts of issues. He’ll get you bags of goals. But you have to play to his strengths. He’s not lazy. That’s his style. He’s not a batter the CH. that’s not his style. But he’s one of the best in division and would walk into any championship side
