Definitely got better. However today, why not back 5, after red card? Simms on for Wright 60 mins?

The question is, if promted, will he stay? There will be plenty of suiters.
Yes, unlike Kompany and Maresca, he’s already managed at ‘the top’ so his record probably counts against him even though it wasn’t particularly bad.

He enjoys being here and appears to have brought into the project so I genuinely think he’ll have a crack at Prem with us should we finish the job this season.

I think tactically hes doing exceptionally well given the squad he inherited.
Im sure he would love some more pace in the back 4 (especially CH) and cover on the wings, and a better CF option.
But there's no doubt hes taken this squad to another level.

I was a sceptic about Lampard but boy O boy he has won me over, the passion he showed yesterday with his finger wagging at their number 6 I think it was, not entirely sure what that was about becuase I only got to see it at 10.30 last night ( I recorded the game and didn't look at my phone all day, dragged shopping by Mrs Floyd) and when he was doing aggresive fist bumps after wow he definitely enjoyed that win, also special mention for Doug King and what he has done for our club thus far, the vision and passion he has shown and I agree with Hazuk, the last 8 years have been a roller coaster ride at times but our rise has been absolutely fucking fantastic !!

His tactics work well most of the time and his subs usually work out well after the event. Maybe a few raise eyebrows initially but generally in hindsight they turn out to be justified. Rushworth going down yesterday was a new masterclass from us

Tactically he’s savvy enough. What he has done though, which is arguably more important, is generated that elusive esprit de corps that all successful teams have.

Feel like (especially this season ) Lampard has been very good tactically and his subs whilst not always perfect have been largely very good .

I undertstand he is taking some advice on the sidelines too from Edwards but im very impressed with how hes reacting to matches this season

Several times ive sat wondering what hes doing or what hes changed it to or why and when i realise or find out left thinking

"Fuck me thats pretty clever "

Every fear i had initially about frank has gone and hes proving i believe to be a very good manager / coach .. far better than i ever expected

He’s bright, been there and done it and worked under some of the very best managers in the game. When we were interviewing him there was some mockery about the feedback from top pros when he was pundit. A couple of anti Lampard posters totally missed the point, these were established pundits really impressed with how he saw the game, stuff they had missed and then explained it clearly and concisely. All critical as a manager. The fact he’d also managed in the championship and then top level in the prem inc champions league showed he had something about him.

One thing I didn’t realise was that steeliness and genuine passion he has but I suppose it’s no surprise as you don’t get to where he got to as a player without it

In the summer I said to some mates that my concern would be that England could come calling if he had a great season with us and we didn’t do well in the World Cup. Still stand by this if he did get us promoted

Agreed on all points. Lampard’s career to date was tarnished unfairly imo.

Unlike some managers who have a ‘system’ that they’ve perfected (Martin, Kompany or Maresca), Lampard has proven that he is actually flexible which in my view, has helped us develop so quickly this season and got us through specific games.

I’m not too worried about him leaving for England, the FA will surely want Lampard to demonstrate capability in the Prem before committing to him.

I've said this about a few players yesterday, but his level of passion is very inspiring to me. It's quite easy to get behind that.

I liked how explained the change to the back 5 in the post match interview, and that it was too dangerous to continue with the same formation. I know many of us were thinking the same thing, but it is nice to see.

Tactically overall he seems to get most things right. I do agree with the Eccles and Torp switcheroo though! Would make more sense to have Torp further forward with his vision and finishing.

Ultimately when MR departed, getting the next appointment right was crucial as it could all have quickly unraveled. King has got it bang on which for a rookie in this sport is mighty impressive.

As for Lampard, the next tactical puzzle he needs to solve is teams coming to the CBS to sit back and hit on the break which has made these games a tougher proposition. He will manage England one day, I’m convinced.

I’m convinced he’s England manager in August unfortunately. Unless Howe gets the sack at Newcastle.

unless Tuchel wins the World Cup - he’ll be unfairly (in my eyes) sacked. Lampard is the next best option after Howe

Earlier in the season I formed the opinion that he was quite inflexible. 4-3-3 and subs on 70 mins. Robins used to pull the odd rabbit from the hat but lampard was more formulaic.

But as the season has gone on, for whatever reason, he has become more imaginative. For instance, we now have the idea of the 'finishers' i suspect stolen from rugby union when Allen and crew come on for the last 10 to close out a game.

They won’t look at him unless he succeeds in the top flight imo.
Not necessarily the case. When Tuchel fails to win the World Cup, naturally they’ll blame the fact he’s not English. So they’ll go the English route.

after Howe the English stock is low. Above Lampard there’s Parker or Edwards. Lampard’s reputation is better than both of them

remember it’s who the media like not whether they’re ready

I was worried when we appointed Lampard, as there have been a lot of good players who have not done brilliantly at management. Rooney and Gerrard were equivalent players and struggled. I don't count Rangers or Celtic as a true test, as realistically most managers should do well there. I know there have been some exceptions lately. Lennon is another who comes to mind. Not the level of playing ability but not a bad player. Poor in the Championship as a manager.
Many times I have said how wrong I was about Lampard and he really has been tested lately with our injury and illness problems.
Lampard inherited a very good squad that was underperforming, and it was a genius move to recruit Grimes.
I believe only a run of unbelievable injuries and bad ref decisions can stop us now.

This is what has impressed me the most, the pragmatism. Too many managers wedded to a perfect style & system. Whilst it is essential you have a clear style & identity, to be successful with a club like ours you have to play the game that's in front of you. I think his 18 months out of the hot seat have actually massively benefited him & all credit for not resting on his laurels but always striving to improve. He's a proper football man.

There is an almost zero chance the FA pick a manager from the championship. Just not going to happen even if it was after promotion.

Lampard’s stock is still down from his last couple of jobs. He’s seen by a lot of PL fans as having ‘found his level’ in the championship.

Until he has success in the prem we’re not in danger of losing him until the national team.

He is the best tactical manager I can remember us having.

He is always a step ahead of everybody else and is very proactive with his changes. Doesn't do too much, not a tinkerer by any stretch but he just knows what needs to be done.

I'm immensely impressed with him. When we were linked with him I thought it would be a bad appointment and just another name. He's so much more than that. I can legit see him managing England one day.
All things being equal he will manager England surely ? I just hope there is somebody between him and Tuchel or Tuchel. Gets a contract extension after next summer

Depends how far they get in the tournament as to whether Tuchel stays, but with Kane's retirement it will be a much harder job for whoever the manager is thereafter.
