Burnley lost again how long will Parker last, shows that boring defensive football might work in the champ but prem teams are going to score

Il say it again , i really hope we approach the premier league like sunderland in terms of proven european standard signings

It`s a real conundrum for promoted teams :

Do you do what Norwich do every time they get promoted, pocket the tv money, sign a load of cheap grafters and hope for the best or do you do what Sunderland do, take the risk and spend big and hopefully survive ( which they 100% will do )

The way to get it right ( imo ) is to spend big, but spend with a plan, not buy a load of overpaid mercenaries who are on their way down, who are looking for one last pay day.

I must admit, that I would`ve put Granit Xhaka in this category, but he`s been superb for Sunderland and they have a real balance in their team.

I’d say it makes Slot’s position untenable.

Me too, Slot will go before Salah.

He`s made a very expensive and complete balls up of the transfer window, almost doing what Man U have been doing for the past few years, buying a load of expensive " names " with seemingly no idea where or how to play them.

He looks clueless as to how to fix things too.

Loads of chatter about Klopp coming back- still has his house on Merseyside.

They've had a poor start to the season but like I said about our post Hamer and Gyokeres signings back in 2023, they are signed for years not for months. He's probably done too much at once.

I'm (not) surprised that famously loyal "back the boys" kopites are willing to turn so quickly. Would love Klopp back and the season to continue to be terrible.

The pursuit of Isak when they had already bought Etikite is baffling as is the purchase of Wirtz with no idea where to play him. Frimpong was bought as a right back but is clearly a right sided midfielder who isn't very good at defending so an ideal TAA replacement. Selling Qansah & not replacing him leaving only VVD & Konate as players Slot trusts is baffling too & they have both been poor individually & collectively this season. As an Evertonian you must find it as funny as anyone 😂

Does he really buy the players though? Richard Hughes has his fingerprints all over this as well.

I`m possibly in the minority, but I`m not obsessed by them like a lot of our fans, they`re just another team to me.

What I`m finding increasingly distasteful, is the way the media and pundits are pushing the tragic death of Jota as the reason for their decline.

It was an absolute tragedy, but there seems to be a narrative developing, where the players grief is the driving factor behind the tailspin they find themselves in. I`m sure it`s possibly a contributing factor, but Slot`s mismanagement of the team and Summer transfers is where the real blame lies ( imo )

Undoubtedly Salah will be portrayed as the bad guy in all this, but I take my hat off to him for telling the truth about Slot.

Unfortunately for Slot, you can`t spend that much on players to go backwards at a rate on knots without being accountable.

You`re right, but the players must`ve had to " fit in " with the system that Slot wanted, so I`m sure Slot would`ve vetoed anyone he didn`t think would work.

Take Isak for instance, they chased and chased him and where prepared to pay whatever it took to get him.

The death of Jota didn't seem to be an issue when they were unbeaten at the start of the season
