"We're not trying to jump back and forth from ultra possession to ultra transition but we can do a lot of things and that's a tactical development as a team we should be proud of."

this has been the most impressive part of the season for me and I didn't see it coming after the Hull game. Kudos to Lampard, the coaches and the squad. Must make us a nightmare to plan for and react to.

Didn't remotely fancy it at the CBS.
Agreed. Their whole team was lethargic that day. I do think tthe readon why there is such a disparity between their home and away form, is that they get away with outright aggression at their place, whereas refs penalise them more away. That coupled with the 'home crowd' effect.

The biggest threat is an injury crisis, but we're less than a month away from the cavalry arriving in the form of new signings. Even if we W1 L4 of the next 5 we reach the halfway point on 2 PPG.

Building up such a lead allows you a drop off in form at some point which surely will happen.

There are some on here who think we don't need to strengthen much 🤔. For me we need to aim for 4 in Jan. Don't mind if they are mostly loans. Most important thing is not having to rethink our entire game plan if one of our 2 wingers gets injured or have to change the attacking threat at LB if Dasilva gets injured. Grimes cover is nearly impossible but I'd like someone who can naturally play the holding role as we don't have that bar Grimes

Trouble with loans is the club loaning us the players will expect them to start

I get that but we are in a stronger position to offer other benefits that might lower those expectations. Giving a loan player a chance to compete at the top end of the championship and be part of a promotion push is a big opportunity I'd say. Anyone coming in would need to know they are part of a squad and will have to take their chances when they get it.

Many think 2 winger/attackers is required and I'd say anyone coming in would get plenty of minutes and allow us to manage Tats and EMCs game time and let them have breaks if they get knocks. LB is the same really, it's far too jarring a style shift when we bring Bidwell on.

DM is probably a harder sell as Grimes tends not to pick up injuries. I'm sure there are older players we can tempt on a short contract or maybe that is where we take a punt on a young signing that can come in as an understudy

It will break a 120 year record if we don’t go up.
It will be embarrassing if we throw this away

Walsall were 12 points clear in League Two in January then didn't win for 13 games and blew the playoffs.

You're saying that though as if its something that happens regularly

I'm sure they'll be signings arriving, but they won't necessarily rock up at Ryton on New year's eve!

Could be 6 or 7 weeks away.

They lost key players to long term injury and the owners didn't back Darren with players in the window

Just noticed that by Tuesday, we will have played 5 away games against the current 2nd-7th.

We've got a lot of the hard games out of the way

By the time we've got Southampton out the way all our away games will practically be against bottom half teams.
Blues and Bristol will be as tough as it gets as things currently stand, though I expect blades to be in amongst it by the time we play them.

This. And more likely than not if we’re trying to pry someone away from another club.
