Could the CBS Arena be extended? (6 Viewers)

I’ll have a bash.

We’ve had 40000 in for concerts so fire escape certificate / insurance / police / medical certificate or whatever would be not so much an issue.

I guess can increase it a bit to about 33-34k without too much infrastructure change.

The posh seats that no-one sits at? Rip
Half out and replace with some safe standing and sell more “exec tickets” up there. Folks can watch the game and drink beer behind the glass with notional seats outside that they don’t sit in anyway but more of them. It’s the concourse area and that side that we need to squeeze.
All that is not extending the CBS at all, it’s just reorganizing the space it already has.

Short of lowering the pitch or putting in an extra tier (too expensive and too long a return on investment) then switching chairs and squeezing the most out of exec area is the easier way

If we are still in this strong of position going into Jan i will be expecting news from within the club about future plans. I would not be shocked to wake up at some point early next year with plans released for development the clubs ground, 1st team and academy facilities. I doubt Doug is sitting wondering what to do i think its just a matter of time before we find out. Because if premiership football is gained the club can not stand still on or off the pitch. On it to attract the players they have to see a club with real intentions to be the next team to go up and be an established prem club in time. If you do that off field is easier proposition and sort of looks after itself.

What?
We might only be in the EPL for one season, why would we develop the ground?

And as for competing, the CBS is more than a match for a large chunk of current premiership grounds, though I doubt incoming players worry about that too much, more interested in their weekly pay packet.

I was more referring to developing the income streams with the CBS. The bigger physical development would be 1st team and academy. The CBS im not sure what physical development would be worth big investment.

As soon as we get to the Prem, the one thing that’ll definitely be expanded is the hospitality offering.

1 hospitality seat sold is worth 5+ supporters in terms of spend.

The conversation around extending the ground when we don’t sell out is a bit redundant. First thing first, the club needs to maximise home fan allocation and the hospitality tickets being sold. Do that first and have a solid demand over several years, then there’s a conversation to be had.

It's an expensive stadium to run and maintain. It needs Premiership money to keep it afloat in the long run. Would like to see Ryton developed and maybe the purchase of the Connexion
Academy is the next big thing the club needs to upgrade! Not being a Cat 1 academy is taking future talent away from our club. Players like Monga should’ve been developed in our academy!

If we go up the home fan capacity will be reduced due to the PL rules around away fan allocation

I think the current thinking is to get more revenue out of non football leisure and entertainment activities before and after the matches. I expect more of this maybe even Christmas themed events.

Looking at what happens now 3,000 seems to do be the norm, like we tend to do now.
It's 10% I think. But that raises the question of how you calculate maximum capacity.

You'd want to make that 10% of available seats so you can deduct the number of seats we can't sell on the balcony and any taken away for segregation.

There's also the get out of a lower allocation for safety reasons. Not sure how strictly enforced that is.

There's a chance the entire West Stand becomes some form of hospitality offering if we get promoted. The stadium has plenty of unused office space which could be converted into lounges for the bottom tier. That's where the money is made in the Premier League.

It's not what I'd want though as it would remove hundreds of general admission tickets.

It would need to be 3000 which means we'd go back to the beginning of last season when Spurs brought 3000.

We would 100% improve segregation and limit it to a mental railing and a line of police/stewards on both sides.

There's only about 2000 "general admission" tickets in the West Stand. When you look at it in terms of seats available in a given space, it's pretty poor;y designed.

Something is happening around the CBS, meetings are taking place this month. Dont know if its about planning, infrastructure or licensing but a meeting is taking place. We will just have to wait and see what transpires but I know that approaches have been made to the club in regards to potential parades and the such so may be just that.

Why is it any more expensive to run and maintain than any other similar sized??

If there is loads of unused office space, extra lounges and fill the balcony before giving any further hospitality downstairs - anyone know the current capacity of hospitality v the capacity of balcony? Even if the hospitality is downstairs, just allow them access to the balcony seats with 20 mins to go to kick off, can't be that hard!

If they turned those into corporate packages and it would make a fortune.

That's what they'll do.

Clubs in older stadiums like Old Trafford and Craven Cottage offer hospitality packages which take place off site.

When we played Fulham a few years back, I did a package and the hospitality before and after the game took place in a posh pub round the corner and then 20 minutes before kick off you'd walk through a normal turnstile.

If Doug has intentions is to stay if promoted he wil invest what he needs into the stadium to get it more profitable. I think work in corporate is the easiest way and most valuable.

But the major investment goes on Academy and 1st team facilities.

If he decides to sell, then he deserves a massive amount of gratitude from the fans and the city. And can walk off with a big i told you so look on his face, carrying a deserved full bank account. He has made a massive difference in our profile and our value, whatever he decides, he has been a very good owner

Maybe he looks into the land he has around the ground and utilizes the unused space within the stadium to increase revenue and capacity with hospitality. He will have a plan and an alternative no matter what.
