Didn't know he had been made redundant. Thought he said he had had enough after 20 odd years of doing it.

If and when we are due to collect the Championship title, CWR should invite him back to do the commentary for said game even if it’s a one off. If he’s still knocking about, it’s the least he deserves.

Would love for the ref to explain how he came to the decision that it wasn't a penalty. I mean MvE had done the hard work chasing through and holding off the defender. In what dimension does he then not just put the ball in the net rather than take a dive? Disregard the fact he clearly had two arms on him pulling him down, even if the ref didn't see that part you can't just run into someone taking a shot and not play the ball."Coming together" he seems to signal to Grimes when he went over, fucking idiot.

So crap, hope he's demoted to the pub leagues for a few weeks.

You have to question why the lino never gave it when its right in front of him.
lino’s now are virtually redundant they dont even flag when the ball goes out of play half the time instead they wait to see which way the ref gives the throw

I will defend the ref on that one. We broke so quickly he was viewing that from the half way line. Not just distance but directly behind the players, the worst view possible. For anyone seeing it from behind the goal or a side angled view it was clear. The person who deserves the pelters is the linesman. It was a linesman's call all day long, he was up with the play as well so was in a great position to give it.

Have to disagree with you on the Foxy/Oggy combo. Hard to fault Foxy's enthusiasm, but he's never a main commentator and I suspect Oggy is happy chipping in from the sidelines.
I'd be delighted if Doug could lean on CWR to apologise to Clive and reinstate him alongside Oggy. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Did Clive fall out with CWR then? I have to say I find the fancasts on Monday and Friday a hard listen without Clive there. I frequently don’t bother now or just switch off.
The after match phone in is still okay with Oggy there but was so much better and more professional with Clive. (I was tempted again to switch off listening to Lorna with Danny Fix). I’m sure Lorna Bailey is a good journalist and broadcaster but I don’t think she ‘gets’ how to do a sports programme. While Football and CCFC aren’t (allegedly) the be all and end all of everything, I do think she descends into silliness when more gravitas is required. I’m sure this sounds pompous but anyone who compares Clive to Lorna and their different styles will know what I mean.

She hasn’t learnt how to cut someone off yet - Clive even managed to get Nick off after a while - I don’t listen to Fridays anymore - Clive was easy listening

I don't know. The fact that Clive's popped up commentating elsewhere would suggest he hasn't retired. Maybe I'm adding two and two and getting five. If there's anyone out there who knows exactly what happened and why, I'd be interested to hear about it.
Your point about Lorna is very well made and it doesn't sound pompous. I wish her no ill, but her style and approach just doesn't fit the matchday experience.

But that just loops round to my point that what player would go down rather than take the goal once they had got into the position MvE had. It would have been penalty and yellow so MvE wouldn't gain anything from deceiving him. Agreed the linesman should have seen. I was in WW block 26 and my lad called in straight away

My wife is visually impaired and was up in the air swearing at the ref from block 20. If even she can see it from the same distance it really does beg the question what the officials saw.

Not sure the delayed flagging for offside really works.

There was one on Saturday where they played a ball forward to a player who was very clearly offside. Didn't get flagged as we intercepted the ball but then passed it straight back to them and they went through and had an attempt on goal.

If a player is offside flag it, not like we're going to go back and check on VAR.

Yes the linesman was to blame.. I was sitting behind that goal.. he was in line, and it was a clear penalty.. glad we went went on to win, but the standard of officials these days is staggeringly bad.

Is there anything to actually confirm he was fired? Everything I've seen or heard has been that it was his choice. He's still working for the BBC covering Warwickshire and now seemingly the rugby which surely wouldn't be happening if he'd been sacked or had some big falling out.

Maybe he just decided after many years he'd had enough of spending hours on the road in the middle of winter.

Good news but you know they won't go for the obvious option and will somehow manage to make things worse.

Already looks like the most obvious solution isn't the first choice and instead 'another idea'
Another idea discussed is for players to be banned from going to the touchline during a stoppage.

Simple the keeper goes down all players from his team report to the centre of the field the opposition can then go to their manager for a chat stops it first week

When it was announced the whole thing felt very awkward to me.

I could be wrong but it had that feeling of 'we're letting you go, but thanks to your commited service, we'll announce it for you in a nice way'.

The whole thing generally works better with people who aren’t fans. Oggy and Clive have built a connection to the club but are able to keep a more objective look at games and goings on.

Case in point the behaviour of Rob and Lorna after MR’s sacking, they lost the plot and it was deeply unprofessional.

What was unprofessional
I do remember the one issue when Lorna said in a disbelieving tone something like you’ve not looked before taking the decision to sack mark robins? That was definitely unprofessional but not because she was a fan and it was answered well
What did Rob do that was unprofessional??

Different for you who was physically at the event but over the radio they were there to take pot shots at the owner and had an emotional tone to the questions.

That’s fair
Like I say I thought Lorna just responded badly and should have been more professional but not cause she was a fan it was just very rude
Remember thinking at the time that Rob was reasonable
Also still no director of football in post not hindering much though with the coaches and Frank
Think the other posts are Nicola and Paul who’ve taken some work off him
It’s gonna be so sycophantic on Thursday I’m already not looking forward to it
There are some legitimate questions that would be useful like the under age ticket prices and also ownership of cbs and meaningful fsa supporters input

To be clear I have nothing against either personally, I just strongly feel that fans of the club shouldn’t be the ones commentating or conducting events like that.

I thought that just sounded performative. Fake anger because she thinks that is what she has to do to represent the fans. She does it ever week and it’s frankly tiring .
If any of them had sat and thought like journalists for one minute (including Clive to be fair) they would have realised what the story was that was emerging and probed on that instead of faux anger

It won't make a difference. An outfield player will go down instead. He might have to go off for 30 seconds but if you have the ball you can waste a good portion of that just kicking it about between the back 4 and keeper.
