Play On Rule (1 Viewer)

It's been said a couple of times now that if the ref plays on then the player can't be booked.

In the Chelsea game, he just played on and then went back to book him?

(Then changed it to a red after a VAR).

they can't be booked if it is for denying a goalscoring chance as the chance still happened but they can still be book or sent off for serious foul play

That’s actually isn’t quite right. They can be booked if the card would have been red for denying a goal scoring opportunity. However it can’t be red and has to be yellow.

The way I understand it is if you stop a promising attack it’s a caution
If the ref plays on from a spa then the player is not cautioned
However if it’s a reckless tackle and warrants a caution they can both play advantage and caution the player

Only for “stopping a promising attack” because if you play on then they didn’t stop the attack.
