He was injured when we first got him which hindered his quality. The same with BTA who was carrying an injury so I read, but has now turned it around

Its amazing how signing a bit of direct quality competition wolfenden is gettong the best out of these Kitching/Thomas.

My concern is hes a booking away from suspension.

One vs Charlton and its Wolfy in against Ipswich funny how football may work.

The world as we know it won't crumble if Wolfenden has to deputise though will it.

It's hardly like we'd be thrusting an academy player into the deep end.

Wrexham was a poor game for him granted, but he's still a very good player at this level.

Kitching is fantastic and we want our best and most settled XI against Ipswich sure, but he's hardly infallible.

Coming in as one of a settled back four instead of part of three changes is big too

Loved Kitching from day one and I don't think it's wild to point out that him and Thomas aren't water tight. We've just conceded four goals in three days!

I don't think it was ridiculous.

His first season, despite some positive moments, he could be a bit of a liability.

Something clearly went on there, so who knows what would have happened without the managerial change, but I'd argue the time out of the team did him good. Sometimes it works that way.
He wasn't at all, our record from when he came into the team improved significantly, him being sent off at Blackburn late on in the season is held against him alongside the sudden view that Binks was good because he did a hard tackle on Fernandes. Kitching was clearly the better player and clearly should have been starting games.

I agree that he was always better than Binks.

However, there were three reds in that first season, and several clangers. He was also prone to giving away silly free kicks around the area, which showed a general lack of discipline.

This has gone; since he's come back into the team, and especially following the pre-season, he's looked a different player.

Is it beyond the realms that Kitching is protected against Charlton and Woolfenden starts to safeguard against the yellow

I’d be really careful about rotating but it’s not actually a bad shout. Dasilva and maybe even Torp. Still think it’s a bit disrespectful to a Charlton side who until recently were doing pretty well.

Only thing I would say with DaSilva would be that he got left out at Wrexham alongside Thomas and MVE and our defence looked all over the place.
I know it is just DaSilva and not MVE you are suggesting but I would not want to risk too many changes and Wrexham happening again

The underlying stats point to the fact that they were overachieving and in a false position.

They're one of the lowest for xG in the league and their forwards aren't good enough for this league.

Still shouldn't underestimate them but I'm expecting them to probably start to struggle a bit until players come back from injury and dependent on what their Jan window looks like.

Double edged sword innit? The more we’d miss a player the more incentive to drop him so he can’t be suspended for Ipswich.

Im a big fan of stats, but an even bigger fan of the football narrative of “plucky club bites complacent big boys on the arse”

I wouldn't be rotating the defence at all. They've got a week without a game after Saturday. Like you said Charlton have been fairly solid up until last weekend.

Its about whether you risk a random yellow from a Championship ref though.

I'm not, but we've not been solid at the back consistently with them as our CBs. I rate them both, but folks are a bit binary with posts about them. Either sh*t or amazing.

Numbers say they're good but not incredible, individually or as a pair. Folks are piling on someone for being critical of Kitching. I'm saying that's harsh and they've got a point.

Well we have the 3rd tightest defence in the league and we play a high line with a pretty aggressive attack style .

We often find our centre halves in the oppo box

They are top championship centre halves still not in their primes

Didn't Wolfy play against Wrexham?
