We would have been better off with Robins (3 Viewers)

For once I’m not sure “Robins always turns it round” would have been true. The back room situation was pretty dysfunctional and let’s not forget the reason for Robins sacking was not just about the results ( it was still pretty early) but what King could clearly see was a situation Robins couldn’t really get out of.
Gave City and Mark a fresh start which was badly needed.
Given how strongly the bottom 8 teams finished, we could have been right in that mess needing something on the last day.

I'm not sure it is really about Robins or Lampard individually but the coaching staff as a whole & the club (including Robins) fucking up the appointments in the summer

- Robins, Adi & Lawrence would have got us play-offs

- Lampard, Boateng & Carr would not have got us play-offs

I felt Robins deserved longer to figure it out but in hindsight I'm glad Doug spotted the error, made the change & allowed Lampard to bring Edwards and Jones with him

Not sure why Lawrence is being lauded so much on here. Yes, when he left last season results took a turn, but I'd imagine that was more to do with the Robins/Viveash fallout. We'd had promotions and success before Dennis arrived.

Losing Viveash was the problem.
I think really there are other factors that robins himself is part responsible for tbh ... as good as adi was at certain things he wasnt the be all end all but really appointing people like George boeteng was a huge mistake , the bloke had next to no top level coaching experience .. our coaching setup looking back simply wasnt good enough and ultimately cost robins his job , mark probably thought he was doing the right thing but really he wasnt and thats that .

The fact the first team coaching setup has pretty much been dispersed since shows this is the case

Roberts is in het first proper job and I really don’t get the entire role of Performanxe Director at her level. Someone in charge of player fitness under the management team fair enough, but why you need that at board level I’m not sure. The coaches that haven’t left are generally in their first first team role. Austin is in his first Head of Recruitment role of any significance, King his first chairman role in football. I don’t know much about the COO. I just haven’t seen anything but some nice landscape gardening that I think it an improvement on Dave Boddy with a fag packet and a pocket full of pennies.

Bloody Dr Claire, masterminding our demise. Over a 100 posts mentioning her at the time.

I miss these days. So much simpler with “one throat to choke”.

😂😂

If I make half the volume of mad posts you make, then please please do get back to me.

I had a debate with you in August about Matt Grimes’s heat map. Doesn’t get madder than that 😭

That’s a very odd example to make that point.

It was our priority. It could still well be in January.
Its a point to say that people say and predict things that sometimes are wrong , including you

A striker is definitely not a priority right now unless we sell or a large injury happens .. your point was about lack of goals . Our strikers have scored 23

You were wrong , like we all are at times

If we don’t sign a striker in January then I will come
back to you on this with my tail between my legs.

You have my word.

We might sign a striker , but imho only if we sell or if we get an injury

Winger and midfielder priority surely

Robins is doing well at Stoke with an inferior squad with such average players like Sorba Thomas .

In answer to the subject title... 'would we have been better off with Robins ?', the answer is no, absolutely not.
We all loved Robins, and he and Adi deserve all the plaudits for their fantastic work at CCFC (with little or no resources), but Frank, Joe, and Chris are on another level completely.

92 points in 46 games (exactly 2 ppg)...next best is Bristol on 72 points !
89 goals in 46 games (1.93 gpg)
10 points clear at the top of the Championship.
47 goals in 17 games this season (2.76 gpg)

Those stats are incredible, and far better than anything Robins and Adi could manage (slow starts killed some great runs of form), despite them being a great management duo.

What you have to say is that without the amazing foundation built by Robins et al-especially the recruitment and most importantly the team spirit-Lampard could not have accelerated our progress as quickly as him and his team has.

It’s not a turnaround more a fast forward.

Fair point.
Our amazing current form has been built on the fantastic work done by Mark and Adi.

The current team spirit is mostly down to Lampard, IMO.

I think being top of the league helps but Lampard has repeatedly spoken about how lucky he is to have such a good dressing room to work with and I think that work started with Robins and Viveash and Badlan in L2. I think his biggest challenge will be finding similar characters of PL quality we can afford.
