We are the only side who are still above that margin of 2 points per game average. it seems like a very strange season in terms of how the league does not seem like it’s settling - it’s quite exciting though - the 2 points per game is a pre requisite to enter the we are going up club - who else will join us ?

Ipswich will win the league

I think we will be second.

Well they’ve got 11 points to make up on us, 5 even if they beat us twice next month. Always better to have the points in the bag.
They've also got a game in hand (due to the Blackburn fiasco) Not particularly bothered, as I'd sooner be in our position, than having their potential. If we can navigate our way to the January window and still be thereabouts (which still allows for 2 or 3 defeats imo) then, disastrous injuries aside, we should be in a great position. I'm not convinced any other side (bar Ipswich) can replicate the form needed to overtake us.

The reason I think Ipswich will win the league is simply squad depth and the quality of their players.

We have in my opinion the best 11-13 players and the togetherness and will to fight for each other gives us an extra 10%.

Squad depth is something that we don’t have against the likes of an Ipswich unless we spend some serious money in January (and even that’s not a given that will work)

They have to get the points is all I’m saying.
For sure, Ipswich have to do the hard work of beating us twice, their game in hand and match our results.

Our home form in particular is going to be crucial in this next month or two because there’s a lot of difficult away fixtures; Boro, Ipswich and PNE are all in the top 6 for home form and that’s our next 3 away games.

More like 2points because they have a game in hand.

December is a huge month for us because there’s a lot of difficult fixtures.
That's worst case scenario and assuming they beat us twice, and a resurgent Blackburn away who, although losing their last game have recently beaten Bristol, Leicester, and Southampton

Not even because we’re in competition with Ipswich, I hope Blackburn get justice for their postponed game.

At home, however, Blackburn have been awful, 1-1-5 is their form.

Ipswich will certainly up there.

They are not in any shape or form as good as 2 years ago as unit. Definately have a slightly better squad depth. Can argue too many players to keep happy.

But they are seriously lacking a goalscorer or 2.

Don't think they will win it with Clarke and phylogene as top scorers. As good as they are. Don't seem to be the TEAM they were.

Akpom has been massive dissapointment.

For me if they buy a top striker in January then maybe they can finish top 2. Still a big if, nothing to fear.

They should fear us.

Good points but we can mitigate this by having a strong Jan window. If ever a Jan window needs to be backed to add quality to the squad it will be this one. 3/4 decent ones and it’s going to be a fun watch till the end of the season.

They probably need to beat us twice just to close the gap. There are lots of examples of teams doing the double but finishing below that team (Derby last season?).
Our fixtures from here until the Jan 4th is a gauntlet, particularly our away fixtures where we play teams that are very strong at home.

WBA (H) - 15th in away form
Boro (A) - 4th in home form (unbeaten)
Charlton (H) - 13th in away form
Ipswich (A) - 6th in home form
PNE (A) - 3rd in home form
Bristol City (H) - 3rd in away form
Southampton (A) - 16th in home form
Swansea (H) - 17th in away form
Ipswich (H) - 16th in away form
Charlton (A) - 8th in home form
Birmingham (A) - 7th in home form

We're top for both categories so we should be going into each fixture confident of picking up a point at least, but a quick look at the table shows that our home games are 'easier' and we need to be winning 3 of them at least.

Im not brave enough to say they absolutley wont however from this point if we are to get to 90 points which will probably win the league this season we need 56 points which is 1.8 PPG from this point

To go above us ipswich would need probably 68 points from now which is 2.12 PPG

If our target is two points per game then we need 16 points from those 11 to stay on track, with possibly easier games to come after. 5 wins and a draw would seem to be achievable. Would we really be expecting 5 defeats though?

22 points from 11 is a big ask, but it’s doable. Under Lampard, the CBS has been a fortress so 3-1-1 gets us 10 points, then there is 12 points from 24 available to make 22, something like 4-0-2.

As you point out, it’s only 16 points to maintain the 2 point PPG so a 1-3-2 away form gives us 16 points over the period. That seems a bit low balled to me.

On current PPG our forecast points are now 21 points ahead of 3rd place and 28 points ahead of Ipswich. For further context current PPG would see us 40 points ahead of Birmingham, Leicester, Wrexham and West Brom.

Every other team in the division requires at least 2 PPG to make 90 points v our 1.8 PPG.
