I think thats a reasonable place to sit at right now , the next 10 games for me are on paper pretty tough but thankfully right now with GD we have some buffer

At what point will people believe we can genuinely do it ?

For me its this , Xmas day top 2 coventry city will be promoted

We do have a run of 10-15 games which will define the season. The top sides will no doubt take points off each other and also "on paper" you could argue we have a reasonable run in.

If we're still in the top 2 in Jan then the rest of the league can just pack it in. We're definitely going to drop some cash.
If we’re still top 2 with this squad I’d be wary of upsetting our balance if we bring in new bodies. Look how Liverpool are doing now they have “strengthened “.

They’ve had a lot of turnover. What we’re talking about is adding quality in positions where we need more depth-out wide and at CM. Probably just 2 players

Depends how tight it is.

If in top 2 and just a point ahead of 2rd /4th then it's no certainty.

If we are in Top 2 and still have this healthy gap of 5/6 points ahead 3rd/4th .

Then yes I would genuinely believe.

Its about performances these back up results long term.

Its about how we are performing.. this totally underscores our results.

We're performing better than all other teams in just about every possible way.

How can anybody make such definite statements, especially about Coventry and the championship like have any of you watched football before 😂
It'd put us in a good position but absolutely nothing is settled in December, its statements like this that can make us come across as arrogant and presumpcious. Like Lampard said enjoy it, but don't expect it all the time!

Yes 100% ..been a big drop off in performance last 2 home games ( stats back that up) in terms of performance. Maybe that's the injuries catching up with us. But it's 3 points and the 3 massive points I said myself I dont care how we win as long as we win. But we all know it's not realistic to play like we have done earlier in season. So we take it.

Got players to come back from injury very soon.

Although we are bound to drop points, looking at the other clubs at the moment, there is only Ipswich that I can see as having the potential to go on a real run. The Leicesters/Southamptons/ Sheff Utds/MBoros etc will all take points off each other, so the points tally is going to be quite a lot lower than last season to achieve autos, with the play off places likely more bunched than usual. Barring a bad run of injuries, I think we're staying up there. P.S. Please Cardiff City, kick lumps out of Wrexham on Tuesday.

I think we're just finding ways to win which I like. Torp and Rudoni along with Grimes make up the best midfield in the league, but we were missing 2 of them and found a way anyway. Hopefully at least one of them is back for Wrexham.

Make hay while the sun shines - keep
This good vein of form going and we have every chance - game by game - FL use of the squad for different scenarios is key of course directed by suspension and injury that will come - but in general ( famous last words words ) fit teams that score goals keep serious injury at bay

It’s going to be tough but as long as we’re either in top 2 or touching distance by Xmas , then get a few quality additions in Jan and we will have the best chance ever for autos. Doug will have to back Lampard fully in Jan. I think Doug will know this is the chance.

Really what im looking at is long term performance since lampard arrival

80 points from 41 games

Consideirmg how we have started , looking at the next 10 fixtures and looking at the run in

I think we will be in a good spot for automatic promotion should we be top 2 at christmas unless something drastic changes

I was at the game when we won 5 nil away Crewe in new years day January 2016.

We had the best goal difference in the league and were arguably the best team, can't quite get the table up. I'm sure we were close to top 3, if not top 2.

The drop off after this was unbelievable.

That day i genuinely believed we would walk the league. Finished 8th. With the one of the best goal differences..

I understand , but the longer term data suggests we arent in a lucky spell ..

What I like the look of, is our run in at the end of the season. The last 8 or so games (from memory) look really good for us. If between now and then we only manage a reasonable run of form, I think we'll be in a great position for the autos,

Xmas / next 10’games etc - what’s clear already, this is the chance to make top 2 - we have given ourselves a great platform - have to take it.

Yesterday's win chipped away at my skyblue 1/2 glass full outlook! We did well but I was feeling a bit panicy towards the end, not had that feeling until now. Long may the run continue though👍 i keep looking out for the teams that can put a decent runs together and Bristol City look good

We’re taking our chances. In seasons gone by both Allen and Sakamoto’s goals aren’t scored.

I keep saying it, but we score at very convenient times as well to take the sting out of the game.

We were largely reliant on very young forward line in that season who at times needed taking out of the side for their own good.

Armstrong for instance after Jan I think scored 3 goals in 15 games.

This is one of the key reasons why we're so threatening I think. We're very capable of scoring against the run of play.

Which for an opposition, must be in the back of their mind when pushing forward.

I'd be more looking at Easter rather than Xmas. Xmas would be way too early to be making predictions with 1/2 a season to go. Things looking good with a 1/4 of the season done and dusted though. If Grimes gets a medium/long term injury it could easily kill our season.

Opposition sides have got to take their chances when they get them. Watford had a glorious one almost immediately, wasted it then were punished straight after.

We've said many times how you need to take your chances when you're on top. We seem to take them when the other side are on top.

At this level you're just not going to play well every game. As punishing as Leeds and Burnley were last season they definitely didn't.

Like you said it's about taking your chances. If you're clinical the rest of the fluff doesn't particularly matter.

We saw the level of frustration we caused Watford because of that. To the point where I'm very surprised they only had the one sending off.

I think the Watford manager although frustrated with the scoreline will have been very pleased overall. They play like that every week they will win most games (though very poor defending for both of the opening goals).

Grimes and Allen will not be our starting midfield very often this season (touch wood).

Let's face it, we could get officially promoted and there would still be a few on here having a wobble about something!

What is probably easier is to say how many more wins would we need from now? Another 20 wins would put us on 88 points, which looks to be the average needed for automatics. That's without factoring in any draws.

12 more games this year, if we can win 8 of them then you've got to say we would be looking very good.

It would leave us needing 12 wins from 22 games. Again, without any draws.
