Keeping Lampard (12 Viewers)

I don't think his reputation has a player has much to do with it to be honest.

In fact if anything his reputation as a player is what helped him in his early career to get the jobs he landed.

His prior record in the PL, which FWIW isn't as bad as it's made out to be, is what's preventing him from being picked up by a top flight club.
You’re right, but he’s never going to be in the running for say, the Spurs or Arsenal jobs, no matter what he does here. Can’t imagine Liverpool ever taking him either. Supposedly he’s persona non grata at West Ham etc etc

I think there's a pretty poor stigma against the Championship as a whole from the PL hierarchy in all honesty.

When was the last time a PL side paid a Championship club the buy out clause for their manager?

The main club that would worry me at this point would be Villa.

I don’t think any PL club looks at him unless he takes us up.

I think he probably thinks the same. I didn't think he'd be here for longer than a couple of years when he was appointed but I think now I may be wrong on that.
Though I don't expect Robins levels of longevity
He comes over as a very level headed chap who took his time coming back into management. If he succeeds here over a course of a few seasons it dispels some of the problems he had in his earlier jobs.

Does he need all the stress and shit that goes with a ‘big’ club? He’s minted anyway so I’d think doing this job is reasonably relaxed given our aspirations, plus looks like Doug is giving him most of what he wants. Taking us up would be a bonus to him and us.

Realistically, he needs to get us promoted for any sniff of a Premier League job, but I think he needs to keep us in the Premier League (with some style) before the really temping offers may come in.
Only scenario that he leaves after getting us promoted is perhaps he feels King is not backing him in the market, and he'd be better off at a Forest or Brentford who have more funds

The biggest tournament in world football? Unless Tuchel himself says it - he won’t be leaving for any job. After the World Cup maybe but not 8 months before it
I hope/think you’re probably right, but there have defo been suggestions in journalism circles that Tuchel is really keen to do the United role and that has hasn’t enjoyed the international football managing.

Lampard is going to be linked with jobs , that is partly because of the fantastic job he is doing here and his reputation within the game .
I think after having a couple of jobs in the Premier League he is wise enough to turn potential banana skins down , although there will be a few clubs that will tempt him .
He has a secure job here and he isn't short of a few quid so I dont think he'll leave us for a couple of seasons yet

He strikes me as a man who cares more about success than money. Theres not a team in the prem who would be after him who could bring him success. We are perfect for his career right now

Lampard touched on this subject in a previous interview. Football is the love of his life. He mentioned how difficult it was to give up his playing career. Going from a world class player to an ex player wasn't easy. But now being a manager at a club where the supporters are fully behind him is the next best thing. Look at the way he celebrates with the players. He's enjoying every minute.

Like others I'm more worried about him leaving to take the England role more than a Prem side. With us he has the support of the owner and our own supporters letting our feelings known about him. He has a very good squad of players. He is secure here as we don't change our manager every season. Why leave all this to take a gamble? He chose us out of several job offers.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he got the England Job in the next 2-3 years and how could we begrudge him that chance if he is still with us?

Lampard does not need the money. He is seriously minted.
Every manager wants to manage in the PL and Champions League. I think Chelsea came too soon in his career and Everton were struggling with a poor squad.
Rangers guarantee Champions League football, at least for a couple of games.
If Lamps has any sense, he will see how far he can take us, and if successful, move up the football ladder.
There are clubs who are more successful than us and bigger, but we are yet to reach our full potential.
I think we have greater potential than many mid-ranking PL clubs, just enough money.
That said, look at Leeds, a massive club that walked the Championship and are now losing to those aforementioned Mid-ranking PL clubs.

Lampard was one of the rare players loyal to the clubs he played for. 6 years at West Ham then 13 years at Chelsea. Being one of the best midfielders ever he could have chosen most clubs in the world to play for.

In management he has seen over the years and also through his own experiences that it’s a cutthroat job. You're only as good as your last 6 months.....or even less. This is why I think he will stay with us unless the England role is offered to him for the next couple of years at least. If we get promoted this season the pull of Lampard could easily bring in players to establish us in the Prem.

The one thing against us is we're not a London side. But we're a project he is enjoying. He knows his job is safe with us.

But whatever happens I'm just going to enjoy the ride.

True, but Cov is a 2 hr drive from West London (training ground anyway) on a good day. We're the biggest club within 90 miles of London. (Watford, Northampton, Reading, Luton, Stevenage, Southend) and I do consider us a bigger club than Southampton

We're ginourmous at this point in our evolution!

In all honesty if Lampard did leave it would be a blow but the caveat of that is no one expected Lampard to do as well as he did maybe bar Doug.

Im sure Doug would get the next one right as well.

Every other forum I look at or Twitter has fans of PL claiming that he can't manage at that level, despite the fact that he has previously and even got a team into the Champions League.

It's weird, somehow the logic is that the much more competitive league with the much higher turnover of manager is more difficult than the other one.

I'm hopeful that Lampard wants to stay here and cement an achievement with us.

The other point to this is, we all accept that players improve over time, yet the same courtesy is rarely afforded to managers. It's pretty obvious that Lampard has learned a lot & become a better manager now than before & he says as much himself.

He’s not going anywhere, there is no rush he’s still young for a manager. He needs to get something solid accomplished on his CV.

It would be career suicide going in to a struggling club he’s not that stupid.
