I've just completed a survey emailed regarding supporters travel to games and in particular ref Birmingham away.

This thread I guess really is for those who travel away from places like Nuneaton, Bedworth, Southam, Warwick, Leamington, Kenilworth, Rugby.

I know supports clubs get a rough ride on here by some and others believe justified, but I don't want his thread to get into that. If we keep being successful and the points bands move (we've already seen a shift towards them having to have points, albeit arguably lower at present), so there is likely to be a time when they have to organise their own tickets. If and when that happens and the clubs are only providing a coach, then I'm sure you'd rather the money went back into CCFC which currently it doesn't.

If the club provided official coaches from your town rather than having to make your way to Cov, which of course prevents you having a drink at away games if you have to drive there first, would you use them over the supporters club coaches?

It was a free text question at the end of the survey about what could the club do to improve travel and I thought localised coaches might work if there was support for it, especially now we want every penny to trickle back into club coffers.

I have known the people who run the Bedworth & Nuneaton supporters club most of my adult life. I have seen first hand how hard it is to run something like that, almost a full time job.

I have been to a few away games on their coaches and sometimes we stopped off at places for a couple of hours to have a drink. It’s generally very well run

Totally agree, I've seen the work that goes into it when Juggy used to run ours and also the lads on L&W , Southam and Keniilworth coaches, been on all of them. Huge respect for all of them, but as the club are doing it from the ground and they always fill, I just wondered what the appetite was in the towns. Not everyone is like me and wants a rake of beer, some would just go to the game, but getting to the ground first isnt convenient and then still have to drive back after.

I’m certainly interested in coach travel for some away games. Nothing to do with the drink. Just ease of access to the stadium and quick exits where possible.

I’m not bothered about a beer at most away games. I could easily jump on a train when I finish work at midday tomorrow and be in boozer just over an hour later but I like to take in the games sober more these days.

Bit of a catch 22 for those who don’t live in Cov in regards to the official club coaches.
It means that we have to drive 45-50 minutes anyway to get to Cov to get on the coach.
Also, if the game is Oxford/Millwall/Charlton/Southampton et al, it means we are driving 45-50 mins north to get to Cov to get on the official coaches, to go back down south again which is obviously counterproductive.
If they had a pick up point from Leam/Warwick/Stratford etc then we would be interested. Sometimes though cost say for 2 people on the coach on average would be £35 each, so £70 in total. The majority of the time you can fill up your motor for £50/60 and get to the away game and back for less than the coaches. Depends if you want to pay for the privilege of not driving but in a nutshell I am always a designated driver anyway which I’m ok with.

No need, the supporters club near me sometimes can't fill coaches to certain aways, they're more than adequate and do a great job

Also wear and tear, sometimes parking costs to add and risk of vandalism to factor in, but agree generally in front. With 2 it's close call, 3 and driving definitely wins.

Also eg Saturday we're going on a coach, booked to stop on the way back for a couple of hours as early kick off. Great if we've won, but if not, I'd rather just get back.
