I had some great away days, really enjoyable.
Even Barnet away, which football wise was as grim as it comes, was a brilliant away day.
Notts County away in the semi was one of the great away days.
County away in the play offs was one of the great days being a City fan.

There was a lot to love about the League Two season. After several seasons where winning was a rare event, we started to beat teams again. There were memorable away performances at Grimsby,Swindon, Luton,Lincoln, Carlisle and Cheltenham. We had those great FACup performances against Stoke (remember coming out of the stadium with people still singing and a real buzz about the place)MK away where Biamou scored in front of 8k or 9k travelling sky blues. Even in the game at Brighton to end the run we put on a good performance.
Yes there were the awful performances too. Still, there is a bit of a badge of honour saying that you were on the terrace in the rain at Forest Green when we lost 2-1.
There were some special goals too. Biamou against Yeovil and Swindon and Doyle’s lob (can’t remember who against) are a few that stand out.
We then had the pair of games away at Mansfield and Wycombe that got us back on track. That was a real backs to the wall performance at Mansfield, something Blues could learn from after Saturday, where we dug in, kept them out and got our reward. Steve Evans’s with his ‘Squeaky’ Robins comments didn’t appreciate our efforts. Wycombe away was so cold, in the midst of the ‘Beast from the East’ and the game was a real turgid affair. McNulty’s penalty made it all worthwhile!
The Notts away semi stands out as one of my favourite days in 60 years of watching City. It was just perfect from the balmy summer weather, to the performance, the result and the celebrations afterwards. I felt it was the first time that the two of my sons who follow football saw the possibilities in following a team like us. They had both witnessed years of almost complete dross on the pitch with the Sisu shenanigans off it.
So for me I will always have the fondest memories of what I think was a great season. It was the season we came back from the brink and started the journey back to being a proper club again and the thanks for that are down to Mark Robins.

L2 was horrific, but without it our climb back would seem less heroic. In fact now that we have our club back, own our ground, have an owner that cares, full-houses, a winning team, playing terrific football ... then I wouldn't change a thing. At times there seemed no way out, but I wouldn't even change the SISU years and the exiles, knowing what we have now, as it makes the journey even more special that we're all out the other side.

Agree, the confidence it created and the momentum of changing the mentality in the dressing room to a winning and happy one has so much contributed to where we find ourselves now.

I had put £10 on us to win 2-0 away at Luton that season. With minutes left and with that the score I could feel the £180 quid winnings in my sticky grasp. Then Duckens Nazon has to pop up and spoil things with a deflected City third. It’s the only time where I haven’t celebrated us scoring. I’ve not bet on a score line since.

I remember bemoaning Jordan Henderson for his zero goals in 50 odd England games. I had a bet on the correct score of 3-0 against Ukraine when he came off the bench and scored the 4th costing my quite a few quid and his first international goal. Wanker!

i had great away days in the relegation from league one season.... the football being grim is central to this.

If people didn't enjoy it then I cant tell them they're wrong.
In the same way no one can tell those of us who did enjoy it that we are.
But there's also no doubt in my mind that experiencing the Forest green, Newport, Morecambe games etc now makes walking into a full stadium and challenging at the top end of the league all the more sweeter.

fair point, I'm not saying where we come from to now isn't a sweet climb. Just debating that i always think theres tinted glasses on that season. Cheltenham away and the play offs was great, but you've got to be lying if you enjoyed the football. I tend to wipe that season as i pretend it never happened. I remember discussions as to why we shouldn't expect to win the league etc, also didn't the original "taxi for robins" thread start that season. I think someone mentioned the spell where we got beat in 3 games in a row.

League One was excellent, we were just better than everyone else, it was brilliant finally being that team. right now i'm seeing similarities.

I agree with some of that, but I don't think we get to that League one feeling and the momentum that took us there and where we are now, without all that went before. I could be wrong of course, but it's how I feel.

I can top that, my dad had us to beat Bury 5-0 the day we beat them 6-0...

Anyone remember the L2 win against Wycombe down at Adams Park during the ‘Beast from the East’ cold snap?

Was hands down the grimmest game of pro football I’ve ever witnessed. Conditions obviously played a part but the football was also utter shite. When we scored my mate and me were considering going shirtless but were so cold we couldn’t take our gloves off. -6 that night but a great one to look back on now considering how far we’ve come.

My toes are still defrosting from that night

Low point of that season for me was playing Colchester away on a Tuesday night, SBA coach got stuck on the M25 and we were nowhere near the ground 5 mins before kick off - Pulled off the motorway and watched it in a pub in Potters Bar crowded round one blokes iPhone and we conceded last kick of the game to lose 2-1 - I reckon that coach not turning up knocked a 1/4 off the away crowd that night

Remember Spurs played Juventus in the Champions League that night and everyone looked puzzled when 40+ Cov fans turned up to the packed pub

Slightly out of context but I remember growing up in the 90s waiting for the goals scored by Midland teams on BBC and ITV. It always seemed to be Aston Villa, Birmingham highlights, then something like Port Vale, Walsall and Stoke League 1/2 and lastly Cov won at home even though we were in top division (No highlights).

Steve Evans looking for a new position after taking time off to wean himself off pies after doctors warnings.
Fair play, he's lost 45kg and looks pretty good.
Jabs I bet we have a guy at work who is on them and the weight is dropping off him but he looks like a melted welly.

I remember in the 90s there was a cup game we won by a ridiculous score, like 9-0 or something, and a guy a few rows in front had put a tenner on us to win 8-0 or something.

When the last goal went in a few minutes from time everyone was too busy watching his reaction to bother celebrating.

Was it Macclesfield? Huckerby scored a hattrick
That probably was it.

I remember with a few minutes to go he needed one more goal and we scored and he was delirious as he was going to win a fair bit of money. Then we scored again a few minutes later and he was utterly dejected.

Morecambe away was the lowest point for me. Around 300 travelling to an away game on a Saturday was depressing.
