Do you want to discuss boring politics? (22 Viewers)

You do understand there is a distinction between what I want to happen and what I think will happen?

That, and for someone who expects the Nobel peace prize, he should achieve something extraordinary. If he actually succeeded in getting Israel completely out of Gaza and the West Bank, decommissioned Hamas, got Gaza rebuilt and secured a two state solution, he’d deserve one.

But he is proposing nothing of the sort.

Why have 8 Arab states and the UK and Europe welcomed the plan then?

Surely any move that saves lives is a good thing and the quicker any conflict and starvation ends the better. However that deal comes about, whoever suggests it, whatever is needed to achieve it, then it doesn't matter. There are no sides in this or at least there shouldn't be other than humanitarian. Perhaps all put your petty point scoring aside and get behind anything that promotes peace.

Would you agree that the mass murderer Netanyahu should escape justice as part of the deal?

Yes.

I don't agree with it, but if that's the stumbling block that means we don't lose any more innocent lives then it's a price I'm willing to pay. Would you prefer he went on killing more innocent people so you can see him in court at a later date?

I’d prefer it if he got what he deserved for committing a disgusting genocide. Trump and his predecessor have enabled it, so want to let him off as part of the deal.

You've not answered the question. Would you prefer he doesn't get off and more people get killed in the meantime so that you can see him get justice?

We're still waiting for Tony Blair 25 years later to be tried on war crimes so I wouldn't hold your breath.

The plans not bad in terms of moving an intransigent situation forward to a solution but you don’t move to an outcome without including those involved

Well those involved are a terrorist organisation with no support in Gaza aren’t they?

He’s in the US now, he could be arrested immediately. Why won’t he be?

Any chance you could answer the question? I know it's the politics thread, but last time I checked you weren't an MP. You asked me, I gave you a direct 'Yes' and reasoning.
Because I don’t accept that his arrest and immediate peace are mutually exclusive.

Because no grown up politician would do that.

Back in the adult world of reality answer Rob’s question

Ah, back to ‘grown up politics’ again. What’s grown up about allowing genocidal war criminals to walk free?

In the universe where Netanyahu walks free or the killing goes on are the only two choices, sure, let him go free.

So your invite him for peace talks and then arrest him? Sorry that’s not happening - in the real world he walks free. You don’t cope with reality well do you?

Hamas officials were invited to peace talks in Qatar and were killed on arrival were they not?

The farmer's had enough of it,the cull is coming to an end,the food and agriculture body have given him a pass on sanctions, the remaining two international farmers one who has previous and the other are going to see out their time in oblivion.otherwise known as the Riviera until the next time all the other farmers in the region are at least going to keep the supplies they've always had, with maybe a slight increase.

In the real world the UK is obliged to arrest him if he lands on British soil.
Presumably that's why Tony satays out of the way with the ironic title of peace envoy. Just leaves his son to do the bidding and keep the personal war chest topped up by cozying up to the current PM. I reckon if this lot had been in charge through Covid the Blairs would be supplying PPE.

Blair and his mate Bush should both have been done for war crimes too. Apparently letting them get away with those is ‘grown up’ politics too.
