Leeds massacred us.
Was the other Ipswich where we played a weakened team in the cup as they did? Or was there another league loss?

For me it’s not even just about the results.

The turn around in players like Torp, Rudoni, EMC, Da Silva has been night and day under Lampard.

We look so much more organised and with Grimes pulling the strings from midfield we just look the business. I don’t think Grimes leaves Swansea without the pull of Lampard.

Could argue injuries might catch up with us but we didn’t look like we got out of 2nd gear today even with us missing EMC and Rudoni.

Get to January still near the top two and it could be an interesting season if we add a couple more.

We absolutely have to add players in Jan. Our summer window was already poor, we can’t afford to wait until the next summer.

Am I talking cobblers or did I hear it mentioned that we were eyeing Grimes before Lampard arrived?

It wasn't poor
We strengthened in the full back areas , recruited a very competent goalkeeper and kept hold of Wright , Rudoni and MvE .
We may be slightly light in wide areas but we have BTA playing well and in KKH and Brau we have players who can fill in .
We need to and will strengthen again in January but I have no doubt we will

If we're in the same position come January as we are now, i would bet my house on Doug getting his cheque book out.
He's never been shy of investing when investment is necessary eg training ground, stadium repairs/upgrades, and of course the actual stadium itself.

Poor would have been selling players like Rudoni and not replacing him.

We're stronger than last season. We were lucky that MVE stayed fit but was knackered at the end. We now have a good replacement in KKH. We sold Binks who most agreed wasn't good enough and replaced him with Woolfenden. He comes to us with the experience of getting promotion from the Championship and with Prem experience. Most Ipswich supporters didn't want him to leave.

Then we have the GK situation. We could have had Wilson and Collins but brought in Rushworth and let calamity Collins go. I know many have been unsure about Rushworth but now he has settled in he is looking a great signing. Was my MOTM against Leicester. Confident on the ball, catches incoming crosses, makes very good saves and always alert to players up the other end of the pitch in a good position.

The other player we sold was Sheaf. We did well to get 6.5m for him. Other than his constant injuries his game time would have been limited as he would have been cover for Grimes who hasn't been out with an injury for years. This is an extra 6.5m available for the January transfer window. We were trying to sign good players before the late offer for Sheaf came in.

Yes the summer transfer window could have been better if we got the players we were after. I'm happy we didn't just bring in squad fillers. We kept every player we wanted to and that’s now paying dividends. We're in 2nd and deserve to be there.
