Simple. Every time a player goes down they take him off on a stretcher. Ref adds 1 min and player stays off til then. True injury then can be subbed after the 1 min.
When play stops ( or ball out of play)is easier than 1 minute

This. It really doesn't need anything more complicated.
The problem is you risk encouraging/giving permission to cause stops mid game. Like - if the clock stops anyway what's to stop players just going down so they can have a mid game american football style quick coaching session

Not saying it's not possible but it isn't that simple. Think you have to combine that with when the clock has stopped for injury everyone in the centre circle for example

Why would they need to go to the centre circle? Just no leaving the pitch and no coaching.

It's a big problem, and I can well understand that it puts a ref in a somewhat difficult position having to try and filter out real injuries from the fake ones. I don't doubt they had some genuine injuries yesterday.

However, yesterday there were many times Norwich players did it with absolutely no subtetly whatsoever. The goalkeeper, twice I think. The one where he went from the sideline with the physio stood right next to him waiting to come on only to hobble to the middle of the pitch to go down again.

The fact that they started doing it as soon as they gone ahead, with only 17 or so minutes gone, makes a total mockery of the game. It's not just unsporting, it's downright cheating.

I'm glad it caught up with them in the end, because if they hadn't spent so much time engaging in childish tactics, they might well have gone home with three points. You reap what you sow.
I have said before that its about time the governing bodies started retro video to determine if there was any contact on the cheating bastards or not, IF there is no contact and the player was deemed as cheating, whatever you want to call it, they should be banned for 4 games for the 1st offence !! I am sick to death of players feigning injury diving about as though they have just been shot the game of overpaid cheating bastards has gone too far enough is enough, start writing to the FA, Uefa etc etc to try and eradicate this shite from the game ...don't let the bastard cheating cunts win ...rant over!

Better get used to it because as most team will come to the CBS with the same tactics. Nobody will allow the game to flow or let us have momentum, on Saturday if EMC scored from that header Norwich's game plan would of been out the window....

So its going to be frustrating at times but its up to the squad to break teams down and don't give them anything to hang onto.

I'm no rugby fan, but I really enjoy watching the Six Nations each year. None of the injury shit happens in these games! If a player goes down injured, play continues around them! There's a head injury assessment in place for the injured player, who might be temporarily replaced. I also think the rugby rule whereby a player is given a yellow card, he's sent off for 10 minutes! That would stop all the cheating footballers!

We could also let the players pick the ball up and run with it 😟

I like the idea that if a gk gets 'injured', he has to go off for 5 or 10 mins and the backup gk comes on...no gk replacement ? ...then an outfield player must go in goal.
That would soon make the gk think twice about feigning injury.

The thing I've never liked about players getting suspensions for subsequent games is that it can actually work against the team the offence was against.

Let's say we're in the 96th of a game and someone does an awful tackle on our player to stop them getting through on goal and the opposition player is sent off. The ref then almost immediately blows for full time so we get no time against the 10 men.

That player is then banned for the next three games and those three games could be against teams we're competing with for play-offs/promotion and so those teams benefit with that player being out for their games.

I don't think it would unless you stop the clock, because if a player had to go off for ten minutes is you'd just have the other team wasting as much time as possible until those ten minutes were up. It could potentially increase timewasting.

I think I'd start with making an outfield player have to go off in their stead and seeing what difference that made. If GK's then still continued to get 'injured' then I'd think about making the GK have to go off.

Of course the issue with this is that it could be argued there is an incentive for opposition players to foul the keeper so they have to go off for treatment. Same with the idea of double the amount of time added on for injuries - there's an incentive for the team chasing the game to foul players to get extra time added on. Of course you could say if a player is booked for the challenge then that doesn't apply, but I feel things like this could end up with a lot of unintended consequences and complications.

Or the Captain has to go off in his place👍

It does nothing about the flow of the game and that's the real issue here IMO even the refs are responsible as well.
Agreed. The timekeeping is one thing but it’s the disruption of flow. The chance to regroup and even have team-talks. The refs and the authorities need to be prepared to have more teeth and potentially fall out with a few managers over this.

The only ban I can recall was Godden against Fulham
