Most improved doesn't always mean best option though. I think when it was between him and Bidwell, it was him certainly. But can Brau bring assists and a few goals to his game? Time will tell.

The one thing that REALLY bugs me with JDS, and it happens far too frequently, is when were under pressure and the ball falls to him to clear his lines, rather than just hit it as far up the channel as he can or as far in to the stands as he can..... he tries to play keep ball and will end up passing the ball to an oncoming attacking player and give the ball away in a dangerous position. I can't recall which games exactly, but I know we've conceded from it on at least 2 occasions. And gifted away chances that thankfully didnt concede on a few others. Its so frustrating to see.

You are right.But it is not just Dasilva. I noticed that all of the back 4 looked for a pass when under pressure, and it has cost us a lot of goals.
The 2 centre backs have started to kick it off the park a lot more this season, and it is noticeable.

It's tactics, the whole team has been more vertical this season and will look to get the ball forward quicker.

I think the whole “beat the press” nonsense was exposed as a ridiculous tactic last season that cost teams woefully poor goals and lots of them. Especially as the net outcome is usually the ball back with one of your centre halves. Dasilva needs to find row Z far more regularly rather than that nicely weighted ball up the touch line for the opposition full back
Dasilva playing the ball down the line, almost on our own byline, rather than hoofing it out of play lead to our fourth goal against QPR.

Yeah, you’re right. Pep’s won trebles and Klopp turned Liverpool into monsters, but clearly the real genius move is hoofing it into row Z every time the ball comes near.

Its ok when you're 3-0 up and cruising! Its when your backs against the wall and you're soaking up pressure and he gifts the opposition an easy/needless chance to attack when in reality, it just needs hoofing out for a throw to allow us to get our shape and to reset.
Its not so much the pass that wrong, its the decision making that is. When to play a nice threaded (maybe risky) pass down the flank, and when to hoof it out of play. Thats the differences between a good player and a great player. Cutting out so many little mistakes and having better decision making.

The calibre of players Klopp and Pep are working with are a million miles from what we have! Or are you seriously comparing VVD and Ait Nori with Bobby Thomas and JDS? In which case, you're clueless and your point is null and void tbf!

Youre literally suggesting we play out of the press every time we have the ball because that's what the best teams in the world do. Whereas, there's a time to play from the back, and a time to fucking hoof it. Even the top teams are opting for long balls when the need arises. Apart from Arsenal who still seem adamant on playing out the press and look very dodgy and likely to conced from it regularly. Nobody is saying we dont play from the back, but when JDS plays from.the back when its clear, the best option is to get rid, its frustrating.

And there you are.A time to play out and a time to get rid. ALL of our back 4 take the wrong option to often,NOT just Dasilva.
This season things seem to be slowly changing and when we are in deep sh** , hoofing it is now an option.

Always been a fan of Dasilva.
Brilliant technique, fine passer and dribbler.
He frustrates me at times in the final 1/3 when he may not be as positive as he should be, but I've seen a definite improvement in that since Lampard arrived.
People may forget in that awful start to the 23/24 season, JDS was our stand out player.
Without doubt, our first choice LB in my eyes.
As for his height, and the ball over the top. This can't be all his own fault.
Many fine small fullbacks over the years, Kenny Sansom, Paul Parker, Roberto Carlos to name a few.
They were playing when that long ball tactic was far more prevalent in the game.
Lack of cover, or counter-measures against this tactics, is down to the coaches. This has been tightened up since Lampard came in, and so has JDS's defensive work. Don't seem him getting beaten by wingers very often now.
Finally, I forget which game it was. Either Boro or Sunderland at home last season. He did this mad piece of skill, clicking his heels together, and then going past the man. That's what you pay to see.
