Collins gone!! (3 Viewers)

He’s never really felt like a good fit here and a strange transfer to replace Wilson after his golden glove season.

Lost his head completely last year and there was no way back. With keepers it’s more mental than any other position and I hope a change of scenery sorts it out for him.

Good move for him and us. I'd be delighted to see him have a decent season.

Yes, he made mistakes, but I didn't see any lack of effort - and it's the most exposed position on any team, obviously. He's still fairly young for a keeper, good luck to the bloke as far as I'm concerned.

Now time to get Allen out somewhere. Burton be good for him too

Id be surprised if Burton are funding all Collins wages.

It would seem pointless to have resigned Allen if he ends up on a season long loan to use up the contract he’s just signed.

I'd agree with that.

Keepers are a different breed to outfield players and a strong mentality seems to sort out the wheat from the chaff.

I would quite like to keep him. He's a decent enough player and always gives his all for us.

With Eccles and Sheaf out we are suddenly looking a bit thin in midfield. Our only other senior option at the moment is to play Lati there and he's injured as well.

Allen is one of them players that doesn’t need to play for 2-3 months and will stand in and do a good job and doesn’t seem rusty. He does a job and doesn’t seem a player who would whinge

He did go to see Robins about his lack of playing time a few seasons ago. So I'm not so sure, unless he's decided that with his injury and health record that he'll be happy with what he gets.

Obviously it's a different scenario if he's unhappy.

You did say "a few seasons ago" so he may feel differently now he is older. He will probably struggle to play 90 minutes now given his level of intensity.

I think he is still a good option as a squad player.

I’d have thought Allen would want to move on for his own sake now.

He’s in the later stages of his career and won’t play regularly here.

In talking replacing not terminating contract for fun of it
Well, you didn't say that.

And anyway, replacing with whom? Midfield is the area least requiring strengthening; presumably we Allen wouldn't command much of a fee, so why spend transfer budget on an area that doesn't warrant it?

Letting Allen go now would make no sense. If Sheaf and Eccles were fit then maybe, but as they're not, no.

He's one of the first names we would look to start improving upon quality wise in the squad.

In terms of outgoings basette rapheal Andrews bidwell and Allen are the ones that come to mind be it permanent or loan and then we replace

In this window I agree that's unlikely but overall they will be the names we looking to move on im sure

Well, then.

So now is not the time to move him on. Moving our on only fit and experienced cover in midfield would not be sensible.

Probably best we put that call to Burton on hold.
We might have people lined up you never know. Only mentioned him as Burton and they his old team

He can be immense for one game but then follows it up with 2-3 absolute turd games so hopefully we won't need him too much this season

Like godden he will only be remembered fondly when he does finnaly go
