Ellis simms (10 Viewers)

Pretty sure the person that suggested "taking the forum down" actually just meant this thread? (Quite silly nonetheless!)

Anyway FWIW I think centre forward is probably the most difficult job on the pitch, and players continue to grow into it well into their late 20's or even 30's. IMO Simms isn't remotely as poor as some of the belittling comments on here suggest. He's capable of bringing much more to the table than we've seen so far, including a lot of goals, if we can rediscover the formula to unlock him. People talk about his "purple patch" as if it was an unrepeatable freak - why not talk about getting that out of him consistently? I'd be disappointed if he was moved on.
Think Mark Mcnulty.
He never repeated his half season purple patch either, no matter where he went.

I wonder if the people on here who rate Simms, also rate Collins as well 🤔

Or Raphael?

You said the result would have been the same!! If Simms and Assante hadn't stepped up around Jan/ Feb time, when Wright was injured, we wouldn't have made the play offs.
In my opinion, it would have yes. What is so hard for you to comprehend?

Why are you so angry at the fact people can see he’s shite? Starting to think you may be Ellis himself, or a family member.

Because we are 5 games into a season, it looks like he will be here for the season. He has played 2 games, scored a goal that won one.Of course I'm not a relative or Simms..yet all people do is slag him off. It is bollocks. Always the same ones, as well.Like I say,we wouldn't have made the playoffs, without him.

I like Simmo and it's really sad to see him struggling but to deny that he is just wishful thinking after last season (and the end of the one before being honest!) Neither the Robins nor the Viveash connections are working at the moment.

Referencing the Luton game? A league one side with numerous changes and he still missed how many chances? Scored a tap in from a scuffed shot!

With the amount of big chances he missed last season, it’s likely that had he been replaced with someone adequate, we’d have made the playoffs by a healthier margin.

Raphael? Surely he's not in the firing line now? Definitely shown promise, but we will see if and when he gets more time on the pitch.
There is no "firing line" its just the realisation that some players arnt going to be getting regular game time and need to be moved on.

If Raphael stays then hes taking up the squad place of someone who could be challenging for a first team place, rather than just making up the numbers.

We only have 25 places available, and at the moment that includes Collins, Bidwell, Lats, Raphael, Simms and Bassette, that's almost 25% of the squad that's not good enough to start, not good enough as cover, and not going to develop much further.

But,you can't know that. It didn't happen. What did happen, is that Assante and Simms stepped up. As a result, we made the playoffs. You say "likely", but you don't know that

Ellis needs a Dele Adebola journey.

Dele came here with a decent track record and all the physical attributes but for whatever reason his head was shot to bits.

Went on loan (Burnley?) and came back a totally different beast.

Send him (Simms) on loan to somewhere where he can rebuild his confidence.

Don’t laugh - but see if Sporting in Portugal want to give him a run out. We might have a decent relationship with them now and it’s just the type of league where I can see Simms’ potential transfer value increasing.

Ellis Simms to sporting might be the most ridiculous take since signing Kyle Hudlin

See if Sporting want to give him a run out like they are a fucking pub team. Absolutely hilarious, farming laugh reacts with this.

It’d be a shame to see him go. A lot of the negativity aimed at him just doesn’t sit right with me. I’m rooting for him to turn things around and show what he’s really capable of.
I think we all want that though, don’t we? It’s in no one’s interests if he doesn’t but the reality is, he’s not capable.

What’s your better suggestion for the pedigree player that cost us about £5m scored 19 goals the season after Gyok left who is in a big wage?

Give him away?

Or, find some way of building his confidence?

A decent loan will do him good.

Tap Gyok’s agent on the shoulder. Find a place for Simms.

The thoughts of the lanyard-wearers on here with zero initiative do amuse me.

But we're not playing that formation, and we're not going to, that's from the horses mouth.

I wish we would consider playing 5 at the back more often away from home but it's not going to happen so we need to move players on who can't operate in this set up and recruit those that can.

When Robins decided to go to a 4 it signalled the end of McFadzeans City career, and he did a lot more for this club than Simms but that's the way the game goes.

Irrelevant, he won the game. He was in the right place.
Fuck sake mate, talk about clutching at straws 🤣🤣🤣

Let me remind you. He got a tap into an empty net from a yard out, then the team created enough golden opportunities for the guy to go home with the match ball, but in typical style he failed to even hit the target!

Found himself back on the bench for the very next game.

Frank didn't want last year, but with injuries, because necessary. You can already see it Saka injured. He is sticking with his formation. If Wright gets injured, with no new forward, can easily see 2 up top.
