Ahh, but to be fair, people were just happy and keen to talk about the win, but a whole rash of threads started to come out to start talking about the play-offs. I wanted to talk about the win but it was all awash with top 6 talk.

At the end of the day it was just one game and we should have celebrated it as such. It will stand in isolation unless we can follow it up with further decent results.

No doubt if we lose tonight there will be loads of threads on how we're going to be relegated again. :facepalm:

Let's just enjoy each win as it comes. It we start winning a few in a row then we can start getting our hopes up and if we lose a few in a row then we can start looking over our shoulders a bit more.

if we lose tonight I will still fancy us for the play offs.

That is is exactly what I meant. Personally I think those 5 defeats were as a direct result of off field matters.

I am not saying we would have won five matches.

I just don't think we would have lost all 5.

Maybe a mixture of wins draws and defeats.

I find it hard to include those results when we look at our form and some suggest we are in a relegation battle.

Most on here when they look at the name Colchester will judge them to be in a relegation battle yet their form over the period has been as good as ours. I haven't looked but I doubt they will consider themselves stong play-off contenders.

Creating an expectancy that anything other than play-offs is a disappointment is not in my view sensible. If that is how we end up judging Robins he will be on his way at the end of the season.

If Robins finishes mid table with them. You can't blame him. They are not his players his choices. They may not suit his management style, style of play etc...
If he reaches the play offs, he will have done well. After the hinderence presented to him by TF and Waggot and those 5 defeats

Personally I would hold the blame for not reaching the play offs firmly at the door of TF and Wag.

They allowed a manager to sign 9 (effectively 10) players. Saying they were backing him then sacked him after 3 games.
They dithered in getting in the new man leading to 5 defeats, IMO.
We now have a new manager who did not sign 10 of the news signings in the summer. Who is trying to make his own new signings.

I like Robins however I genuinely feel this squad is capable of a Tranmere type run. I do think the play offs are not an impossible mission. However I won't hold MR accountable. Unless maybe we really do end up in a relegation battle.

If we don't get there this season I would like TF and Wag to be held accountable.

Fisher and Waggot's crime clearly was to leave Thorn in charge at the end of last season.

If we had Robin's in charge from Day One we would be challenging without question.

Theres no point in dwelling on the past. Given recent performances, i think we can do it. Good squad, good form, great manager and great away support means that we have a great chance of making the play-offs. We're top of the form table, we got players bang on form and we got the best manager in the league and he's making some great signigs, so why cant we do it? Hard work and faith, thats all we need
