Whether you rate him or not it clearly hasn't worked this season. Do you stick or twist based on the last 12 months?

I think there's only one answer..

Far from mad - But anybody thinking Haji Wright will repeat that first season tally might be.

He’s scored consistently his entire career. And he’s frustrated the fuck out of fans his entire career as well. Man’s an enigma.

When Lampard came in he was asked about Simms and gave some vague everyone will get their change answer but he really doesn't seem to like Simms.

Got to be hard to get any run of form going when you're only playing 15 - 20 minutes and the occasional start before being hauled off after an hour.

Think the only time he's had a run of games under Lampard he's got 4 in 12 or something like that. Wasn't it similar last year when he got a run of games?

Shame for him but if Lampard isn't go to play him for his own sake he needs to look elsewhere. Will just be a question of how much we can get for him.

Agreed. I think 0 minutes in two playoff games says everything you need to know about what Lampard thinks of him.

He has started 8 of the last 13 league games - he has not scored for 14 games

Lamps didn’t fancy him at Everton I guess and don’t think he still does. As you say-a parting of the ways may be best.
I wanted him to come good but it looks less and less likely.

I wonder if he is a bit homesick and would benefit with a move back to the Manchester area.

I do wonder if something has happened behind the scenes, as he was getting some game time.

But he can have no complaints about getting no minutes, he’s been dreadful all season and is so ineffective.

I just think we’d have got no more out of him than we got out of Wright last night. We have seen that type of performance from Simms on numerous occasions.

Wasn’t simms playing through an injury recently ? Either way not quite worked for either of them this season. Might get decent money for Wright and would imagine he won’t fancy another year in the championship so probably best to part ways. Simms is a real conundrum. I still think there’s a player there but just not sure our set up will get the best out of him

It’s football but I felt a bit sorry for Simms regarding the 2 playoff games. Was it a bit disrespectful for Lampard to not even throw him on for 10 minutes? Same could be said for Bidwell, Patterson and others on the bench though.

Not really, they were playing well before conceding. Could have had a negative effect on the performance.

If Frank had put Simms and Assante in for the full extra time period, we would have won that

I assume he just had more faith in the 11 out on the pitch while wanting Wright for penalties. He should have been hooked well before extra time anyway

To not feature at all in the play-offs you'd imagine that his time here will now end as I can't see how you come back from that. Lamps just doesn't seem to have him in his plans it seems.

How involved was Lampard at Everton in sending Simms out on loan, then agreeing that he could be sold?
Who was in charge at that time? (Genuine question as I can't be bothered to look it up)

Lampard sold/released Collins didn’t he?

Any other players let go by the same manager at different clubs?

Michael Rose has been released by Stoke, thats twice Robins has released him.

He's still only 29, I'd say he's a better CH than Lats and Binks.
Would still be a decent squad player on a free!

He was one of our quickest players at the time, surprisingly. Something we are lacking in defence (Van Erwijk the exception). Unfortunately, he seems to struggle keeping injury free.

His future here is looking incredible fragile .

Haji today for me atleast showed that in a frank lampard system you need to have the lot which includes being good in the air , good at holding the ball up and good bringing others into play and can score goals .. he can also run at defences .

Haji had it all today

The ball simply doesn't stick to ellis and I think his limited passing ability Along with his inability to really bring others in would suggest he isnt fancied at all and might never really be under frank

He needs to play in a side that will put the ball in the box to his feet consistently

Does ellis want to be on the bench week in week out ? I dont think so at all .

Loan out to another club?

Thought he made some good runs off the ball when he came on, and his raw physicality does give teams something to think about. He still should have done better even today when he came on, but if Ellis Simms is our first option off the bench then we are in a very good situation in terms of strikers.

He did one of his special where he nearly split our defence with his 1st touch, I've genuinely never seen anything like it.

I don't know what's happened to him and wish him all the best but I think his City career is drawing to a close
