How is it throwing money down the toilet?

Worst case scenario he costs them £5m-£8m and they sell him for £7.5m. If thats the case he's had a storming season for them and its just the equivalent of a loan.
Worst case scenario is that he has a few shit seasons , they can't shift him on and have spent £5M - £8M plus £1M a season in wages .

It’s a horrendous deal. There’s no way of them making money out of it. If he excels and is worth £15m+ City sign him back.

Please stop slagging off everything on every thread, it’s all I see.

I really dont get this argument? If it was a season long loan what would the difference be?

Because they’ve paid a sizeable transfer fee.

I know they’ve got massive commercial revenues, and they’re always going to be over charged but their transfer business has been poor. They’ve signed a great, young player but given themselves no resale opportunity. Man City are laughing.

@Jimmy87 you heard anything?
Nothing since what i posted the other day, man. I won't see him till Saturday at the match.

Guessing now that the 2nd bid that was rejected was obviously the Ipswich player.

If we did make contact early on about Doyle, i'm glad we didn't pursue it, just seen the deal that Wrexham got, better left at that imo.

I don't know what's been said on here but i hope we keep hold of Thomas for now, i think he's a good young player that still has a lot of development ahead of him, years from his peak.
Really pleased that it seems as though Rudoni is in no hurry to move on too.

I think you’ll find the very obvious difference is that they’ve had to spaff a huge amount of money on a transfer fee and have to pay his wages. It’s basically a very, very expensive loan if all goes well and a waste of probably £10m if it doesn’t. Utter shite.

Looking from the outside, we are clearly trying to do the right thing and within our wages policy.
Whatever the Doyle deal with Wrexham, we could never offer the wages he would want. That is why he has ended up there and not here, Norwich or Leicester.
We know we need a CB and a forward who can come straight in, but within our wage structure.
King doesn't release any information, so it is all coming from the other clubs.
Every player we have been linked with, (where it is reported an offer has been made) are recognised quality CBs. Other rumours from agents are players with potential.
Teams like Wrexham and Brum throwing money around has distorted the market and is making it harder for us to compete.
We have a budget and it will not be broken.
Either we get the players we want at a price that is right for us, or we will make do. Not ideal but improving this squad on the money we have will be difficult but not impossible.

He’s a quality player, for £5m. People moaning that it’s like a loan, he would have added to our squad even if it was a loan.

People watch Douglas’ pockets like it’s their inheritance money he’s spending. It’s embarrassing
He's nowhere near as good as you and a few others are making out. He was good for us, average for Leicester and played in a Norwich side that conceded a shit load. We really shouldn't be getting involved in terrible deals like that for a bang average player.

Tbh we've still not lost anyone of worth which is really surprising to me as I thought at least one of the big boys would go.
If it is Woolfenden and Godo on top of what we have I think the squad is in a good place.
A really good window would be if you added the unknown 'wildcard' on top, which I still have a feeling for for some reason. Also could do with 2 or 3 fringe players moving on.

I'm not convinced we will get Woolfy unless he forces the issue. Ipswich seem very reluctant to let him go.

We have one slot left in the senior squad so we do need outgoings to make room.

They don’t want him to go but their manager said today that these things are never straight forward whatever that might mean. It appears to be widely thought that he has asked for a move which “might” explain McKennas words

Actually feel bad for Doyle. He’ll be being paid well of course. But just loaned out every season - I’d imagine he’d want a perm move without these sort of strings attached.
