It would be idiotic to let Thomas leave before his replacement is in place. Too many things can go wrong in that scenario.

Replacement going to another club, failing a medical, not agreeing terms as they have you over a barrel etc.

Generally not one to bedwetter, but it would be nice to hear about some incomings.
