Looks like we’re finally doing something, if we can keep rudoni And MVE and use the money for Thomas for a quality CH that’s great business

We ofcourse would need 2 centre halves unless lati was going to cover again

I've always liked Bob but the question that bid asks the club is, do you think Hughes is better than Thomas and could we get him? If the answer is yes then you take the chance and flip him, if not you keep him.
You make it work for you, basically.
I would hope we have something ready to drop straight away.

For me Thomas might be on par at the moment, but Hughes clearly has higher potential according to the wider footballing world.

When we first heard about our bids for Hughes many of us thought a partnership of Hughes and Kitch would have been a definite step up. Ie. Thomas warming the bench, £8mill for someone we were hoping to be a backup CB is fantastic business for us.

Let’s make the deal for Hughes and get a young CB for cover or if money is there then Doyle. That would be an awesome partnership at this level.

We don't know who Hughes would have started ahead of.
I like Thomas and Kitching to be clear.

I think lati covers, kitching wont miss many games, not like you really need to rest centre halves, they’re made a bit tougher, just hope we bring some proper quality in if he does go, I’d prefer doyle over Hughes, seems a bit of a strange one for sheff Utd, they’ve gone for Thomas over those 2 ?

How do you know Kitching doesn't miss many games?

Yes because the offers are flying in for Liam
We don't really know what goes on behind closed doors, teams may have enquired. There was no sign of any interest in Thomas before this story broke.

Unless we've got seriously good replacements lined up, it's just not the right time to be selling a CB. We only have 3 first teamers and I'm not confident we get 2 CBs in before the window closes. Thomas and Kitching is a solid partnership so to break that up, get a capable replacement in and recruit other priority positions... It doesn't seem likely.

We don't want a repeat of last season where it's glaringly obvious we need a CM and we only address in Jan and the season was nearly dead and buried by Jan 2025.

If Hull seriously want £20m for him, it's a pretty brief conversation.

Is £8 million the standard bid nowadays?

Given that Sheffield United are going to be one of the favourites for promotion, you could probably make a very good case for retaining Thomas and definitely not selling him to a promotion rival……

Sheffield United also wanted Hughes, so perhaps they rate Thomas higher than Hughes. Either way, it’s an odd trade for Cov to make, especially because we havent signed Hughes yet.

A fun situation would be to sell Thomas to the Blades and then see Sheffield sign Hughes as well.

Thomas is better than many of you realise and I would be sad to see him go. The majority of our team seems to have its critics so it really is amazing that with such crap players we finished in the play offs last season.
I suspect he has a positive attitude too, good to have around, cheers people up.

He ain't going nowhere. Just like Rudoni.
Most clubs must get several offers for their players.
Along with Grimes, I would put Bobby Thomas the least likely to leave the club. Infact, I don't think anyone will.
No way Lampard take this job in November if his best players will be sold in the summer.

Am I missing something with Doyle, why is everyone wanting him... Yes he had a decent season with us but loaned to Leicester they didn't sign him, loaned to Norwich they didn't sign him... Man City never going to play him... No club bid for him as yet... I would rather keep Bobby and sign 1 more CD to compete with him and Liam... I think we need to spend decent money on a striker not a defender 🤔

this is exactly what will happen. If Hughes is too pricey for Blades then we're never getting him anyway. And as for the other fav, Doyle, I can't see it. Plus doesn't he play left like Kitch?

Yes, the kiss of death. Now Grimes will leave as well. To Leicester. On a free

They have the money to get both

I don't think every outward transfer has to be against the clubs will. I fully believe Lampard would be asked if he'd rather keep Thomas or use the money from the sale of Thomas.
I have no real opinion on what he decides, that's up to him.

Making 8x what we paid on him would be excellent business if we can get a replacement.

People say we need to upgrade the defence but then complain when we have to move people on. Seems a fair price to me and allows us to hopefully go and get players to suit FL.

Talking to my lad about this Tuesday night, I thought Booby had a bit of a meh first half, he was saying maybe Frank wanted to give Bobby and Liam a half each, but I'm now thinking maybe this was on the cards and they took him off either because his head wasn't in the game or they didn't want him injured
By the way I thought when Liam came on he had a really good second half, marshalling the team and driving them forward

Bobby would be a loss. Really keen to see if he can kick on this season and iron out the mistakes. And I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Sheff U did buy him, they’d try to get Hughes as well.
Doyle’s great but a bit slow and would be a luxury if we needed 2 CBs to cover the right sided berth.
