A few points...

Southampton won't be purchasing Rudi for £25m without selling Fernandes or Dibling, both of which they are pricing out of moves. Both West Ham and Everton are being quoted stupid prices. Feels to me like a Gambit from their hierarchy to leak this so fans aren't worried about the same issue we are with Rudi leaving.

A lot of posters on here will change their narrative when we start to spend the cash. £10m on Doyle or Hughes, keep Milan, £7m on a winger, £8m on a new CAM. We always expect the worst from Doug and Dean but time and time again they have proved us wrong, granted not every signing is a success but getting to the final with Vik and Gus wasn't sustainable and now we have a much better platform for continued success.

Doug won't leave Frank high and dry. Frank is in for the project and the dream that Doug sold him, Doug has shown no signs of a lack of commitment to the club so to pull the rug from under Frank with 3 weeks of the window left would go against the grain.

Yes but biggest problem in what you are saying, those 7,8,10m players will become more like 9,10 &12 when those clubs learn that we have just sold our top player for 25m

In exactly the same way that £20m Jack Rudoni turns in £25m Jack Rudoni when Southampton sell Dibling or Fernandes.

I don’t want any fee for Rudoni. I want him to stay. We shouldn’t be replacing until we already have his replacement at the club
Hopefully back in the real world Doug King isn’t so risk averse that he’d turn down a ridiculous bid for one of our players just because it might upset the fans for a bit, or because we haven’t already spent millions that we don’t have on a replacement.

I mean he’s pulling the rug completely under franks feet ahead of the season and after all his prep.

At least we can use the excuse “we lost Rudoni” if the season doesn’t go well

It’s just reality for like 90% of clubs in this country? I think Frank knows he’s not at Chelsea anymore - £20 million to spend on what is already a very good Championship squad would help him get over it.

On the risk averse point also, I’d suggest it’s more risk averse to sell your star player 2 weeks before the window closes as you’re concerned his value is going to plummet over the season

All this oxygen being wasted on whether Rudoni is leaving, well he's not leaving, well not this season anyway.

Did it kill our season when we sold Hamer?
I mean, we went from 5th and a penalty kick away from PL to 9th. So id say so yeah. All the FA cup did was gloss over what was a pretty dissapointing season in all honesty.

Also, we didnt sell him to a direct competitor for a promotion spot. We didnt strengthen another team in our league by selling him!

Had more fun in that cup run than any season since the PL.

We also didnt have 3 years on Hamers contract. We either sold then, or he left on a free! Completely different scenario to selling Rudoni to another championship club.

It is, but people keep mentioning Hamer due to how late he was sold.

It’s also risk averse to turn down a silly amount of money because you’re worried that a bunch of guys wearing Rudoni pyjamas on the Facebook forum might be upset about it for a bit.

Or because you don’t trust the people you’ve hired to identify players you can sign, develop and sell for a profit to do the same job again.

If a player valuation is met then they will be subject to being sold by the club.

The club at all times have player targets in each position for every scenario be it replacement for 1st team starter to back up for the squad.

If Rudoni is sold at an acceptable price and we have his replacement lined up then it’s all go from us.

Most big player transfers are held up because the selling club wants the replacement lined up.

Replacement! Now who would that be, it would cost us more than 20 million to replace Rudoni.

More cracking insight from Andy Turner in his CCFC transfer state of play. Should've just been a one-line article:

"Here is what real journalists are reporting, I don't know what's happening."

People *really* need to relax on AT. He arguably has the tightest access there is to the clubs transfers. If he wants to keep getting access, he's not going to do anything to compromise the trust and relationship with the club - and even potentially transfers themselves.

As soon as other media report stuff its fair game! But he is not going to be breaking any stories in that way.

The fact DK wants leaks shut down reinforces that imperative. AT would be a moron if he did anything but.

why? I am virtually every game and you are talking nonsense
I’m not though am I - I’ve essentially said:
Rudi is good but not as good as Gyokeres was (now at Arsenal) or Hamer (POTS last year)

His actual impact on games in open play isn’t huge and he likes to go missing (PO semis).

If we sell him for £15-20m, it’s good business and will actually allow the squad to get stronger in the long term like Vik/Gus sales did.

I don’t think any of those points are outlandish or “revisionist pish”

Doug is not a stupid man, selling your best player to a rival adds millions onto a player value, as the risk out weights the money generated.

Now, if Jack and Milan are kicking down Dougs door wanting out then that's different. But if they want to give it 1 more year to try to get promoted, just put the phone down and work on adding quality to these 2 players and the likes of Southampton will be not in any conversation.
