I get what you are saying, but this hasn't really happened in this case. Largely, the only ones saying he was worth ridiculous sums were posters on here. It seems to me blaming injuries is an easy way to avoid admitting we went overboard.

It's been three seasons and he's still here. The demand was never really there.

People always overpriced Sheaf but he was still worth a lot of money 18 months ago. We have kept him and he's worth very little now.

We haven't sold anyone for serious money since Hamer. A few million from the Gyokeres sell on and Binks leaving doesn't cover the money we've been spending.

If the right offer comes in, then any of our players are for sale. The club isn't going to want to risk another Sheaf situation.

However, you'd think to get Rudoni it would have to be a fairly preposterous fee.

Just don't see it happening in the slightest. Our player of the season, one of the top players in the league, one year in to a four year contract, enjoying his time under Lampard. They'd have to spend well over the odds to get him and Lampard would have to be fully onboard to sanction it. Doug held out for Hamer and Gyokeres when they were towards the end of their contracts and clearly had eyes to move on

Would he have brought Rudoni on if we were genuinely talking to Southampton?

It will be a massive fee, I’m sure about it. You wouldn’t take the chance.

If someone wants to throw silly money at us for Rudoni while there are still a couple of weeks left in the window then we should do it imo. We will have the backup plans ready and the money would be transformative.

Anyone saying it would kill our season obviously didn’t see us look like dogshit until January last season and still make the playoffs.

Hopefully just paper talk. Losing Rudoni to a Prem team would be one thing, any player would want that move. Losing him to a promotion rival with years left on his contract late in the window is a whole other situation.

I've said before I've got a feeling there's a suckerpunch coming at the end of the window but I really hope it's not this.

Rudoni and Wright are our only ‘difference makers’ the 2 players who have the capability to grab a game and win it.

We had 2 of them in Hamer and Gyokeres and we reached the play off final, if he goes we lost any creativity we have through the middle.

Would be a disaster.

Honestly think we were banking on MVE going but he’s not wanted at the price point we need

Realistically he’s not going to a Prem team without at least another half season of elite performances here. If a Championship team wants to overpay for him then we should let them. The money we received for Gyokeres and Hamer completely changed the trajectory of the club and we’d need a very good reason not to do it again.
