CBS Train station (2 Viewers)

Can't they put a train on with say 6 carriages but fans can only get on at CBS using doors in middle 2 carriages? Do this twice before and after a game in 30 minute intervals should be enough đŸ€”

No. It’s physically not possible to do that frequency without upgrades at Coventry. That’s what the current plans for Cov-Leicester improvements are supposed to unlock.

Until someone tries to get out of a door that isn't on the platform. 😁 I don't think that's an option.

I have a mate who works for National Rail and he says that this point of "just put on longer or more regular trains on matchdays" is repeatedly raised with WMT and they are consistent that this simply isn't possible in the immediate to short-term, for whatever reason.

It feels inevitable to me that they'll just pull the plug on the train stopping at the CBS on matchdays.

This is an area where I feel sorry for the club's leadership - they are constantly being pulled up on this issue but there really is literally nothing they can do about it.

If that happens it would be majorly embarrassing, especially when we could a PL club soon.

TBH I don't see why it would be "embarrassing" - the issue is out of the club's direct control. It's entirely in the hands of WMT, and they insist that it can't be done.

Read the document I linked. You need a bay platform at Cov or something to enable half hourly trains.

The length this is health and safety I think. Worried about crowd of people trying to get out of fewer train doors in time. That seems solvable at least.

Just rail investment in this country innit?

Can’t even build a high speed line FFS. We’ve made it completely impossible to build anything in any reasonable amount of time because we give every residents association total veto over everything.

Isn’t that a platform where trains terminate?

I've always wondered why they can't implement a shuttle type service? Back and forth from Coventry and the same to Nuneaton. For 90 mins before and after.

Yes it disrupts train service for anyone going between Nuneaton and Coventry but it's disrupted anyway!

I'd imagine the main issue is with platforms at Coventry not being able to accommodate extra services on that platform.

It is. It was going to be built about 6 years ago and pulled out over costs. It wasn't particularly expensive in the scheme of things but as we know, we don't invest in this country.

Can you sum up for me when this is planned for and will it help me get from Kenilworth to the CBS easily? I always go there first if i'm going to a game (mums house) and i've asked a few times on here if trying the train was worth it and always get told not to bother so i've never tried. Would be great for the area if fans from Kenilworth, Leamington etc were able to get to the ground with ease.

Now this is where things get fun! I can scarcely believe I'm about to type this and still find it hard to believe it's true, but this was confirmed at a fans forum last year:

Some time pre-Covid, a company that converted retired TFL tube trains into shuttle trains was in the early stages of plans to provide shuttle trains for matchdays services directly from Coventry to the CBS and the club was actively engaged with this process, but then Covid happened and the company folded.

So, I guess this has at least been discussed!

In all seriousness that sleazy yank weirdo is up the arses of all the politicians in Brum trying to get what he wants, Doug should at least be encouraged to have conversations of this sort when you next meet with him.

It’s alright guys we’ll get the VLR built in no time.

Let’s be honest they’re not as cool but a shit load of buses would do the job. Just not as easy to sneak on for free.

Coventry needs Covxit and start our own combined authority with Warwickshire and hookers and blow. Always get shafted in the WMCA plans.

Coventry has way more Warwickshire in its DNA than those inbred towns near the Birmingham border or even worse the ones up by Staffordshire. We don't even acknowledge those from nice Warwickshire.

Transport particularly the attitude from WMCA seems to be “eh Cov can get to Brum what more do they need?” When what we need is connections to Warwickshire and the East Midlands mostly.

Would it? The traffic around the stadium is a nightmare already!

The worst thing about the current train setup is the occasional tantalising glimpse of how well it could work - when it works, it’s a breeze, it just hardly ever does.

No parking restrictions until the train is sorted out to a satisfactory level by bet it wouldn’t take long to sort then.

The wife and I were on our way home from a weekend in Brighton last year and saw the matchday service from Brighton to Falmer; several dedicated trains going straight to and from the ground on a regular schedule, separate queues for anyone using these services so the regular passengers weren't disrupted, dedicated staff to make sure everyone got on and off the trains safely and respectfully.

Do they even enforce the parking restrictions. I'm parking in a different place this year and walked to the ground from the Hen Lane side. Seemed to be people parking anywhere they could and not a residents permit in sight.

I saw tickets I n cars against St Pauli but I do wonder if people have old envelopes and stick them on to deter the parking wardens who think they are done already.

They’re just the normal trains to Seaford that stop at Falmer.
