Can we agree not to embarrass ourselves as a fan base this Saturday? When he touches the ball boo's aren't necessary
Errr... no... he's getting it alright.

When a club's owner & manager value him at an unrealistic fee... it's natural to blame and attack the player... who has no control over it.

I'm torn.

I would love us to buy him but I just wonder, with the sort of figures that are being bandied about, whether we wouldn't be better off using the money to buy two or even three players to strengthen us in several positions.

Of course, it may be that we will strengthen elsewhere with a loan or two in which case I think I'm in favour if we can do it.

You think if he was close to leaving he’d randomly post a story in their kit? He’d be keeping a low profile
I'm thinking back to Hamer - he was all over the clubs videos and yet weeks later he was gone. But yes...it seems increasingly unlikely

Hughes doesn't know if a deal s going to happen as - quite apart from anything else - Hull may not agree a fee with another club.

In the meantime he remains a Hull player so he just carries on with things as normal. Hull might even want him to be doing things for them to send a signal, probably as a negotiating tactic, that he is their player.

I don't think any media posts by him or the club have the slightest bearing on whether he stays or goes.

So we know we’ve got at least 8 million to spend , that should boost the squad a bit, we were never spending 10 million on one player,
Doug likes to offer enticing installments, especially if we were to be promoted. There's every chance he pulls it off, they'll want cash rolling in over a few years so they can spend once the embargo is over.
We've spent bigger than this in previous summers and he has put 15 mill in this year. We've sold binks, Gyokeres sale has dropped, record season tickets, potentially MVE leaving. I think we get him for a decent fee 7 or 8 mill plus 2 or 3 in performance add ons

I must admit to feeling that this deal, if it happens, has the potential to push the model too far. To make a good return Hughes has to become very good indeed in order to get the price we eventually want to sell him for. He might, but obviously the better you need to be to get the sale price you want, the harder that is to achieve. Personally I would prefer a lower risk Grimes style purchase

We will make nothing back on Grimes. He's what we needed and we have to allow for exceptions to the rule but its not what we should be generally looking at. To fill a squad with too many of those is the Birmingham/Wrexham model, we cannot afford to do that, we have to take calculated risks on players we think will improve so we can cash in and go again if our attempts at promotion fail. If we saddle ourselves with a load of oldies and then also fail to go up, we will become marooned again.

What about Jordans (we’ve also had loads of Liam’s, Josh’s, Jack’s and players with the last name Thomas)
• Thompson
• Shipley
• Ponticelli
• Willis
• Maguire-Drew
• Turnbull
• Clarke
• Stewart

He is 21 and English. If he spent a season with us and we finished in the top 6 with him being one of our better players he'd easily be worth £10m+
