Finally got around to watching - The Expanse.

It`s not often I`d describe a tv series as magnificent, but this really is.

100% pure space scfi and long at 6 series and 62 episodes, but I genuinely didn`t want it to finish.

The first series isn`t very good, felt a bit budget, but I`d been told to expect this and just get through it to the second, when it comes into its own.

If you haven`t seen it, it`s too complicated to explain, but a a very short version would be, is that it`s set 200 years in the future, Earth, Mars and an area of space called The Belt all are inhabited.

The Belt exists to serve Mars and Earth, who are both constantly on the brink of war with each other and there`s also a resistance movement on The Belt, fighting against Mars / Earth.

Throw in the discovery of an alien life form, that has the potential to wipe out the universe.

If the first series hadn`t have been so ropey, I`d be giving it a 10/10 all day long.

A must watch for sc-fi nerds.

I went and watched ‘Weapons’ last night. Very much enjoyed it. I’m not sure I should give too much away but I guess it’s a bit like ‘Us’…a bit like it but not really.
One of the best I’ve seen in a while.

Also saw Weapons tonight. The ending was nuts, everyone in the cinema was actually laughing.

The hair cutting scene as well...

Thought it was good, but preferred Bring Her Back in terms of a recent horror
I’m glad you said that…it was the same reaction where I watched it and in the cinema my daughter watched it in Australia! Also In both venues some people started clapping…

Edit: I liked bring her back also. Very good batch of horrors out at the moment. Next up ‘Together”.

Together seems like its going to be really good, but apparently the script was stolen from an independent writer which is interesting.

I'm a big horror fan

Is that right? I’ll have to read up on it.

Yeah me too. I think a few others on here are too. Even the shittest of horrors - and my god there are some terrible ones - often have something original in them to appreciate.
Unfortunately I feel like I’ve got to the stage where I’ve watched them all!
Having said that I’m a bit out of the loop on foreign language horrors. Some of them used to be terrifying!

Black Phone 2 is on our list as well for horrors this year. The first was good but felt like it wrapped up well, so interested to see what they'll do.

Keeper also looks really promising. Trailer gives nothing away, but it's by the same writer as Longlegs which I really liked

Me and 3 of my mates from school were obsessed by this film when we were kids, we are going to see it when it comes out.
Even if its rubbish it'll be a good excuse for a pint and a catch up

When I saw Alien, Earth and Disney, I expected the worst, but the first episode was really good.

The Alien universe had a lot of rubbish, but is on a bit of a revival since Alien Romulus

There's a remaster of the original going in to cinemas in the US ahead of the sequel release, hoping they do the same here

I couldn't get interested in it. Does it need sticking with?
Definitely!

My missus felt the exact same way and I was rather meh about it, but I pushed to watch another couple or episodes "just in case" and now we both love it

It's brilliant. I'm so glad I gave it another go after doom scroll watching season 1 I gave up for 3 years and then returned to it and actually paid attention.

Just brilliant

Think it turned out that that wasn’t correct and the script for Together was actually written before the one is allegedly copied. Just one of those weird coincidences.

Saw Weapons on Friday and really liked it. Finally got round to watching Sinners tonight and enjoyed that too.

I`ve said this to everyone, get through the first series and it starts to fly.

I was quite disappointed that they wrapped the sixth and final season up in six episodes, when all the other series had either been ten or thirteen.

Half the people I know who saw weapons loved it the other half thought it was shit. I don’t watch horror so can’t comment.

I finished watching the final season of The Bear recently and I just don't understand the hype around it. I enjoyed the first season but the last couple of seasons just feel self-indulgent and just a bit boring.

I thought season four was better than season three.

Enjoyed the first series, forced myself to watch all of the second but didn't really enjoy it as much as the first. Made it halfway through episode 2 of the third series before I gave up.

Marshmallow.

Part horror, part sc-fi.

Starts off like a predictable school Summer camp horror and then goes totally nuts in the second half, where the sc-fi elements kick in.

Got a real B movie feel to it, but despite a cast of relative unknowns the acting is really good.

The young boy who plays the lead is excellent, as are the other kids.

Watches very much like an A24 film.
