Goalkeepers aren’t even proper footballers!

It's akin to sacking George Harrison and drafting in another Ringo Starr.

The part i don't get is how many of us watched us in games where we dominated most of the possession and the opposition GK had a great game and we have 2 shots on target against us and 2 goals against but still think we need better strikers so we can score more goals than the opposition instead of bringing in someone to stop the constant soft goals.
Why Dont We Have Both GIF

Having two shots on target against us and conceding twice is incredibly frustrating.

What is even more frustrating is knowing we also had numerous chances to score ourselves and didn't take any.

If this does happen my prediction of 2nd to 4th this season is on. It's going to be a mental season. There will still be more ins and outs, but the quality of the players that have come in under Lampard so far fills me with confidence. We have a squad that's Championship experienced and know each other well. Clubs like Birmingham will have a side of strangers lacking Championship experience.
I suspect it’s because we have one goalkeeper who’s lost his mind and another who’s subpar, which will cost points needlessly if it isn’t fixed. I suspect most also agree that we need better up front but it’s considerably harder and more expensive to do that.

Hence the focus on the defence

Surely the definition of going for it would not be selling one of our best players.
It depends, if we sell Rudoni for £20m (purely for example) we could buy 4 £5million pound players, (and use the Vik money for part of their wages)

Would that get us over the line?

And if Rudini does his ACL against Hull we would definitely wish we had done this.

(For any bell ends who want to disect the above, can I just say that this is purely for an example, im in now way suggesting we should, will, or could sell Rudoni, and the cash figures mentioned, are purely for conversation only and not indicative of his real value in the market)

So did you mean it or not?

Which can be the difference between having a good GK and having a Wilson or Collins.

But even a good defence will have shots against them. And when a defence don't trust their GK (us various times over the years) they can't play their natural game. And it isn't just the constant mistakes that cost us goals and games. We need someone who can command their area. A GK who will commit.e out and catch the ball would be a right bonus. No more constantly punching the ball if they manage to reach it and giving it them back to have another go.

We have plenty of goals in our side. Look at the run we went on last season when Wright was injured. We were on a great run when Dovin got injured. After that we only got 10 points from the last 7 games. Coincidence?

Few around us got that many points.
That's why we finished 5th, which looked impossible at one point.

Look how Sheffield utd's season fell apart in the last 7 games.
Look how Luton got dragged into the bottom 3, that's squeaky bum time for you!

So how do we keep strengthening?

We sold our best two players by far in Gyokeres and Hamer. From these sales we bought a team. Some of these players have gone up in value. I know some will disagree (as they always do) that Rudoni, who most seem to agree is our best plsyer, could be sold for £25m or more. This would be able to strengthen our whole squad. Yes we would lose our best player but we would have the money to bring in a couple more gems. After all we bought Rudoni with a small part of the Gyokeres and Hamer money.

Watched a few videos, definitely feel comfortable with the look of Rushworth.
Preference would have been Mike Penders of Chelsea but this fella looks decent.

Hopefully we can shift one or two keepers.

Bell on loan somewhere and then ideally Collins transfer but if no interest then don’t mind Wilson leaving as once Dovin is back we won’t need either if there is an obligation to buy with Rushworth if we get promoted. If we can get money for Wilson off the back of his golden glove season then I wouldn’t be opposed to it. Appears he’s got a contract till 2027.

Really depends on what this deal with Rushworth turns out to be.

Your preference was a loan signing that was never even remotely on?
Rushworth is genuinely the best we could have hoped for in this situation. Didn't rush, didn't panic, just calmly making sure we get a decent keeper in.

Would imagine the future is Dovin/Bell
A year is a long time in football.

If Rushworth does actually sign for us we will be stronger than last season. Lampard took us from 3 points out if the bottom 3 to 5th. Rudoni has become a beast and will continue to improve under Lampard. Last season it was more like 'woe is me' with both Hamer and O'Hare being together at Sheffield United. But now not a single person in their right mind would swap Rudoni for the pair of them. We've moved onwards and upwards.

I'm sticking to my prediction of 2nd to 4th. Ipswich should be too strong for us but otherwise there's negatives with all the other sides. We will have a better idea about October/November time. Can't see anything but a big promotion push this season with how things stand personally. Get promotion? If Rushworth is as good as he seems then he should be a big target of ours for a permanent move. Dovin as understudy. Bell as back up.

I think Rudoni is excellent and agree he has even more to give but to say you wouldn't swap him for Gus is a bit myopic
Rudi is good but Hamer was voted THE player of the championship

My preference would have been to target him yeah, can you not say who you would have preferred us to target?

Didn’t know much about Rushworth prior to being linked with him but after a few google searches and watching a few clips etc he seems like he will be a great addition.

Wonder why Brighton pulled the pin on him going to Rangers
