Pre Season Friendlies (2 Viewers)

Last season they said we needed better opposition to get us ready to be right on it when the season started. They said Leicester's success was due to a hard pre-season. Didn't quite work out for us. Worst decisions were to play that team who kicked shit out of us during our warm weather training and the quick hit stop to Germany. Robins said the latter was a bad decision.
At least we are not playing Nuneaton, another injury fest waiting to happen.
This season, depends if the opposition play their first teams, as I would imagine Monaco and Betis would be very tough games.
Shades of Benfica under Ron Atkinson when we were given a football lesson and set the tone for a poor season.
I think Everton was about the right pitch, a lower half Prem team a bit behind in their pre-season compared to us. Pre-season results really don't matter but with little squad turnover so far there's no excuse not to hit the ground running this time.

I've just had a few baby guinness and am going to the local French Bistro to start a fight with the waiters.
They've got a right mob out tonight at the Bistro- ready when you are

Must be bored, this is the lineups so far.

Very helpful. Shows a strategy to give nearly every outfield player 2 halves so far which suggests these BCD games are not much more than a fitness exercise for the whole squad and therefore tactics to try and win the games are pointless.
Has of course reinforced most people’s belief we have some issues at CB, Striker ( esp without Wright who we have no idea of a return date) and of course GK.

I would look to sell:

Wilson or Collins
Bell
Bidwell or Dasilva
Brau
MVE
Binks
Raphael
Asante or Simms
Bassette
Obikwu

Serious work to do in little time

Selling Brau is a silly take. We know nothing about him yet. Let's give him half a chance at least.

Agree with all the others with the exception of Bell, Bassette & Obikwu who would all suit loans. MVE obviously only because it would allow us to strengthen elsewhere and we already have his replacement.

I think in the Betis & St Pauli games Lampard will give the expected starters 70 or 80 mins each and the expected subs bench 20 or 30mins each to see out the game.

The Bristol game I think is the last chance for the fringe players to impress enough to make the bench for the remaining friendlies & beyond.

I know plenty about him and he isn’t good enough

Czech league starts this weekend, so I'm off to Bohemians v Ostrava this afternoon.

Going to be nice to watch some 'proper' football after what feels like an eternity.
Went to the Bohemians ground the other week when I was in Prague (along with the other 3 top division clubs in Prague). Seems a nice little club. Interesting ground, quite stark how top division clubs in some European leagues have grounds that wouldn't look out of place in non-league in the UK. Enjoy the game.

I am surprised about the lack of friendlies, particularly on the weekends.
It's not like we're struggling to find opponents. Assuming it's the management's idea of what the pre-season schedule should look like. Given the slow start the last few years, I'm all for doing things a bit differently.
