The main reason for finishing in the top 6 was the ridiculous run of 9-10 wins in 13 or something like that when Dovin was in goal. If Wilson or Collins are in goal until the new year, I don’t think we’ll be in the playoff conversation around the new year. Just my opinion. I know Wilson won the golden glove in 22-23, but we had not 1 but 2 cheat codes in Hamer and Gyokeres.

I think the genuine rumour was 2 in soon and Wright off before the end of August. Everything after that was “banter” !

If he wants out of course then his value drops regardless. Two seasons of a goal every other game and your money back (including wages) isn’t to be sniffed at.

Tbf, everyone keeps listing the 4 strikers like that, but Haji Wright is doing a hell of a lot of heavy lifting in that list. I'd agree goalkeeper is a bigger issue with Dovin out but I hope we can do some recycling up front too.

Lampard made it clear from his team selection in the play off games that Simms is not his man.
Unless something has changed his opinion since then its fair to assume that he's actively looking for a quality striker.
BTA and Bassette (currently) are not good enough to hold down a regular place in a top end Championship team.

Just because a player would like to further their career at another club then it doesn’t follow that their fee reduces.

I dont doubt that Mbeumo wants to leave Brentford for United or Spurs but so far Brentford have turned down 3 bids of over £50m ….

6 weeks until the window shuts no player is getting their valuation discounted mid July unless it was not realistic in the first place or the club are in financial distress.
