I think he will be very good from the start as he started 51 games for Preston and was there player of the season .
The notion your pushing about him being a novice is drivel
Novice?

Other than Grimes how many players we have signed have had a slow start? We're not talking about novices here either. I'd prefer to be cautious with a new player and let them grow into their position instead of them not hit the ground running and call them shite before they have a chance to settle iin. That happens every year on here.

There won’t be a single team in the league that won’t have a brand new player in a starting position this year

Crikey you’re in an argumentative mood.
Argumentative?

You said people are calling him crap. I asked you to quote them as haven't seen a single person say it.

So are you being argumentative when you disagree with someone and state your reasoning why. Or even when someone makes a statement that isn't true and you point it out?

I can't be wound up like before as my mind is in a very good place and my wife finally got the all clear and just has to go for extra checks to make sure the cancer isn't back. My daughter has also recovered and has now restarted her education.

I'm very pleased for you and of course for your wife and daughter 👍

If KKH is half as crap as some are making out I’m very concerned We’ve spent 4.5m on him
His season last year was arguably better than MVE’s and is generally a stronger defender. It’s worth noting that PNE conceded less goals than us and lost fewer games. The reason they finished 20th because they were absolute draw merchants.

Yes it is me.

I'll say it again for those who missed it before. During Covid my wife got seriously ill. As she was having treatment my youngest daughter then ended up with a serious illness. Being in England i couldn't visit for 14 months because of border restrictions on both sides. At the same time as struggling to cope with everything the idiots on here started. I stopped coming on here and even had a lot less to do with footbal as a whole. But it showed both sides of several on here. I said about my serious mental health problems but this seemed like the green light for some on here to help my mental health deteriorate whilst they were saying on the mental health thread how people need all the help they can get.

But as things started to improve life started to get back to 'normal'. I still wasn't coming on here to be an idiots plaything. The problem was without signing in I had to find where I had got to in each thread every time. So I made up one to be able to keep up with where I had got to. The problem is this place gets a hold on you. Think it was where every player we had signed were supposed to be shite. I tried to remind people it isn't easy for a.new player to hit the ground running. And like I kept saying we turned our season around.

The one reason I'm still on here is it's the best place to find out the latest news. Makes it easier to plan my flights for games on top of everything else. I can't be wound up like before as my mind is in a very good place and my wife finally got the all clear and just has to go for extra checks to make sure the cancer isn't back. My daughter has also recovered and has now restarted her education.
I have barely posted on here ever, mostly just a watcher, but I am glad that things have improved for you. I think people forget that others have issues in their life when they comment on here. At the end of the day we all want the same thing.

Without getting into the weeds of the Vik sell on clause; after his move, Hamers likely sale & moving Milan on for a decent fee along with a few fringe players, are we confident that should fund the summers business without having to sell another big hitter ?

It's difficult to say.

From memory we spent the MVE and Gyokeres money. Since then we have signed Grimes and KKH for about 8m. We have this mysterious 15m. Was it to help cash flow so we can sign players without having to sell first? Could it be it is an investment to cover signings and give it a real go this season?

On the other hand we're like the vast majority of clubs and sell players when a good enough bid comes in.

I haven't said he won't start. I have said I don't think he will hit the ground running like the vast majority of our signings haven't.
He should hit the ground running really. He’s not had to move house, he’s signed early so will have a full pre-season and he already knows a few of the players.

I hope he starts where he left off with Preston. But my view is still the same. Other than Grimes just about every player we have signed for years has had a slow start. I'd prefer not to expect too much to start with and be delighted if he is excellent from the start than expect great things from the start and feel disappointed if it doesn't happen.

KKh is championship ready and will spend all of pre season in situ. I’d be very disappointed if he didnt hit ground running. Hence smart signing.

Bit of an understatement. Looks like an excellent signing. Most importantly a young player with a lot of Championship experience for his age.

I suppose part of my problem is we have started badly most seasons for years. Maybe Lampard can do something about it. We have what looks to be a less difficult first 4 games. Maybe we will have a good start and the players perform from day 1. The 1 advantage we have is we have a settled side that knows how each other play. This could change of course but personally I think we're in the best position since the 20th century and we're already a quarter of the way through the 21st century 😂

The players performed from day one a few years ago, we fell apart at the end of the year.

What would be better, a good start but a worse end of a worse start and a better end?

Sunderland had a dream first half and a poor second half - even losing their final 5 games and still comfortably in the playoffs before eventually winning it.

Last season the table was tight but 1-4 were in a completely different league and that's what maybe we should try and do next season.

Slow start is the right way but it doesn’t half wind up fans.

I think Sunderland and Burnley showed the rest of the league how to go up, not necessarily nice football but have a solid defence and a decent but not overly impressive attack and clean the league that way.

From memory Burnley conceded very few goals and scored 66 (I think). Just sorting out our defence and I think we can do a Burnley (or Sunderland).
