The most pissed I’ve ever been in my life. 🙈

Getting a bottle of voddy for the journey HOME after a full day on it definitely didn’t help.

Nostalgia despite being a poor team.
Jay Tabb
Mifsud
Osbourne
McKenzie
Best
Doyler
Stephen and Michael Hughes
Ward
Hall

Also as a previous commenter said, finding a game where both Kyle and Gray scored would have been tricky

I do seem to recall Gray bagging a winner against Barnsley too, they must have thought the same as we did with McIndoe, Gray only turned up against them like McIndoe did against us

Our team these days absolute destroys that one. That wasn’t even one of the worst squads of that era, but watching the likes of M Hughes, McKenzie et al was pretty poor.

And it only got worse from there. Such a different experience these days.

Albeit I do miss not having the queue to get in and no queues at half time.

Oh for sure our team destroys that team....but this was my era when I was a young fan and obviously some players hold a special place for nostalgia.

I would go as far to say I wouldn't want one of those players in our squad. The closest would be Tabb as an Allen type player and Best but Best after he left us. Still only 50/50 on either.

Doyle holds a special place as his return was a massive reason we are where we are now. Without his and Kelly's mentality I dread to think where we would be

Yes I agree on Doyle, his influence on his return was incredible! Pivotal part to turning us around.

First game of the season.

I kept up to date with this in a bar in Lindos, Rhodes...... walked in to see a Leicester flag over the entrance and a table full of Leicester fans, who gave me the customary reception (and a few harsh words, as the Baby Squad had recieved an hostile welcome in Bedworth at the friday night match the previous season).

We won with ease, and Leicester lost to Blackpool.

In fact the Leicester fans were really decent and invited me back out that night with them to watch Villa lose their opening match (possibly against Liverpool or Man Utd, i can't quite recall)

That Mowbray season destroyed us from that point, about November and running away with it 4-4from 2-0 up.

We actually won that game 4-3, but I know what you mean. Barnsley were near the bottom at the time and we were cruising, but by the end of the game we were desperately clinging on! By the end of the season we finished outside the play offs and Barnsley were promoted.

Ben Turner getting injured was also a big turning point that season as our defence desperately needed more strength to it. I also remember losing home games in the same week against Walsall and Burton, which was a real momentum killer.
