yep, did a few voiceovers which you can obviously do from anywhere and work times to suit. apart from that think he's only done a couple of bits for documentaries and a anniversary special for a comedy thing he did years ago.

Loved it. One episode (can't remember which exactly) is as good as anything else you will see on TV.

Watched the first episode of this. Liked it enough to keep going but the main character is a bit of a needless nob at times.

The character got up my nose as I've met several guys just like him in my life. Great programme though. Watched it all over 3 nights this week and sincerely hope Netflix commission more series in the very near future.
Mrs GE also gave it the big thumbs up despite the 'C' bomb being dropped every so often

That was my main takeaway from the first as well but a few eps in I'd either warmed to him or just got used to it, not sure which

I was fine with the character. The whole point is that he's moody and snarky and grumpy. He said he hardly slept didn't he, following the shooting.
I think the whole point is he doesn't give a monkey's chuff, hence the not even parking his car straight.
He's just a grumpy old git with a troublesome teen under his guidance.
I like the character, because the way he is, then therefore enables him to carry off all the sarcasm and insults he throws about willy nilly.

I believe they have commissioned another series - there are collection of books by Olsen - characters develop well - as above the character is harsh but he warns to his staff and they all make a contribution

I thought the best character was Akram.
You`re always left wondering whether he was a good Syrian policeman or a very very bad one.
Alexjej Manvelov plays the part to prefection.

The contrast between Akram and Carl is intentional and for heightened dramatic effect.

Streamed these two, both excellent and both very different films on recommendation at the weekend :
On Falling.
This is a standout film, but fuck me it`s bleak.
An introverted young Portuguese migrant, along with other migrants and a handful of poorly paid locals, works in a massive warehouse somewhere in Scotland. Her hamster wheel life, consists of nothing more than waking up, taking things off a shelf, putting them into a trolley, not speaking to anyone other than during her lunch break, going back to her shared accommodation, eating a shite cheap meal, if anything at all, going to bed and doing the whole thing all over again.
The film slowly strips her of all hope, as it slowly dawns on her, that this is her life and she`s trapped.
Portugal`s leading lady, Joana Santos is award winning in the lead and you almost feel like you`re watching her in real time, she really is that good.
Very similar to Ken Loach`s equally as bleak - " We`re Sorry We Missed You " and packs a similar message and punch.
Danger Close : The Battle for Long Tan.
Set in Vietnam and based on the true story of a mixed Aussie and Kiwi regiment, made up mainly of conscripts and their fight for their life, against a Viet Cong battalion, with nearly twenty times more men.
It`s raw, visceral and very much in your face, as they fight for hours on end just to survive.
An excellent cast, that pretty much watches like a who`s who of Aussie acting talent and all led by the always excellent Travis Fimmel.
I wish I`d seen this on the cinema, as you almost feel like you`re in the middle of the battle scenes they`re that good.

Families Like Ours, a Danish show thats on iplayer (warning for Nick, there's subtitles!)
Set in the near future sea levels are rising in Europe, the Netherlands have bankrupted themselves trying to come up with a solution leading to the Danish government deciding the best option is to evacuate the entire country before its too late, and before there's refugees leaving other countries which they know will lead to governments elsewhere shutting their borders.
Rather than going full on disaster movie it concentrates on one extended family and how it impacts them. Going from being successful and well off to scrambling to find somewhere to go.

I did watch one about a tsunami in the Canary Islands the other day. Wasn't too bad.

Def worth a watch. Got through the whole series when I had a weekend and couple of days off work laid up on the sofa ill.
One of those shows that may well improve in series 2 now the chemistry is established and the characters are more familiar.
