We're in the worst part of SBT calendar...

The football holiday season

Everyone's on holiday (or international duty). Granted agents will still be working but players won't be negotiating and mangers won't be giving green lights this quickly after the end of the season.
Except the internationals.

That maybe so but some deals are still going through.

We've had a decent season and then a good season with this core. We're not losing anyone unless it suits us and we should improve next season with two or three strong signings.

If we want better than 80 points then that's when we're gonna need to shift some of what we've got to fund upgrades in areas where we're already solidly top six (e.g. goals scored).

Don't see King changing course so if we've got a GK and LB sorted by pre-season, and nothing else changes, I'll be looking fwd to the season. More than that, bonus. Buzzing for it!

Thought I'd put together my 'ideal' summer transfer window but would need the owner to add some funds. I'm not particularly clued up about foreign leagues other than those players that are put on here so not the most imaginative choices, but gives a flavour of where I'd be heading.

GK's

Dovin - KEEP

Wilson - KEEP due to Dovin's injury.

Collins > LOAN GK to cover for Dovin's injury.

Loan Out - Bell

DF's

Bidwell > TOFFOLO High wages but on a free.

Dasilva > BRAU

MvE - KEEP

(Burroughs) > KESLER - HAYDEN I know he would almost certainly only be here as a replacement for MvE but we need two RB's and given the intensity we want them to play at they could both feature almost every game, one replacing the other an hour or so in. Or against better teams play them both, with one taking the RW position.

Kitching - KEEP

Thomas - KEEP

Latibeaudiere > DARLING. Add a bit of experience to the back on a free.

Binks > TANGANGA. Need a better defender than Binks and I really like Tanganga. Would love Doyle, but that not going to be happening financially. Other options might be people like Holding or Ballard.

Grimes - KEEP

Eccles > AASGARD. Not exactly the same type of player but Lampard doesn't seem to rate Eccles and I think he'd be an upgrade and possible after relegation. Was also considering Kyprianou on a free but has gone elsewhere.

Sheaf > KVISTGAARDEN / ZORGANE. Marquee signing and would take some getting. With Sheaf getting nearer the end of his contract and increasingly injury prone I think it might be time to try and cash in and be ambitious in his replacement..

Rudoni - KEEP

Torp - KEEP

Allen > GOODRHAM. Again not exactly a like for like replacement but we need an AM who can dribble with the ball.

(Howley) > YOGANATHAN. Look for a prospect to develop but not expected to play every week.

Loan out - MOORE

FW's

Sakamoto - KEEP

(Paterson) > DOLAN / POKU. Need a second option for the RW and either of these on a free would be excellent. Dolan I think more gettable than Poku.

EMC - KEEP

Wright - KEEP

BTA > RIIS. A bit stick or twist but if we could sell BTA for a couple of million and bring in someone like Riis on a free I think that would be decent business. Would also consider Bundu for his agression.

Simms > SALECH. I so want Simms to come good but two years in and I just doubt he's ever going to have that killer instinct and be the player he could. Expensive replacement but got relegated and could use the BTA money to top up the fee.

Loan Out - RAPHAEL, BASSETTE, OBIKWU, DAUSCH

Kvistgaarden is a ST/Winger and wanted by bigger clubs, someone said we wanted him last year and nothing materialised when I suggested him a couple weeks ago

Two players I hope frank is talking to Chelsea about

Marc Guiu - The 19-year-old Spanish striker who plays off the shoulder of the last defender and is known for chasing every ball down with his physicality and full on display. From the matches i have seen him play in he is a Diego Costa type but with Barcelona academy technique.

Omari Kellyman - He is one that makes real sense. He is from the Midlands very quick, two-footed and has genuine ability to effect both boxes. Unlike Guiu he has not been scoring goals for chelsea in the European league cup this season. But for the right loan fee price and with the right coaching, he would be upgrade on some of the players we have in that area of the pitch.

Here are highlights reels of both:

Mike Penders on loan would be good. Only 19 so surely not going to become first choice GK. Highly regarded

Deffo linked with going to Ipswich but the local forum seem to think he isn’t keen - not sure why but they suspect he doesn’t want to drop to the championship
Imagine playing against the likes of Real Madrid for Barca, then playing only a few seasons later against Charlton!

Nothing against Charlton by the way. Would have been better if it was against Luton in their mess of a stadium.

Doug King's stance on signing over-30's :-

“We looked at players in the summer (2024) that had no sell-on value. We tried to sign players who had no sell-on value. That didn’t work and if the manager wants to come and knock on my door and say, ‘I’ve looked at the squad and I need Robbie from wherever, and he’s going to be the pivot that’s really going to bring this group together,’ then no problem with me.”

I know SBT gets looked at by the staff, but fuck me, I never realised they'd checked me out!!!! However, I am 71 next week Doug, so my sell-on value is quite low. hahahahahha

Why is it that someone called Mike Penders could literally only be a goalkeeper?

A winger with the same name would be jarring as fuck
