Transfer Rumour Emil Riis (11 Viewers)

long way home

We need quality depth in every position and that word quality is key. Multiple players are available but question is do they improve the current squad and do they fit in attitude and buy into what we want as a club.

Lots go into this not just availability, i posted before including me im glad none of us are part of the recruitment dept. It would be a disaster of chasing unatanable players or a squad so unbalanced we would be down by Christmas...

We'd happily shaft Simms but you'd take this guy?

His goal scoring record is frankly abysmal and below what we have.

We absolutely should not be weakening ourselves

Abysmal really?

His record is 1 in 4 in this league, same as Simms, but he's older and he's done his ACL not that long ago. If data shows his hold up play is above average and that he's good at what Lampard wants a striker to do, I get it. Otherwise, don't see the point binning off someone we have to make room for him.

Our attacking lineup could benefit from Riis’s experience and goal scoring capabilities. His addition would provide depth and competition up front.

Given his availability on a free transfer, the financial risk is minimal, making it a potentially high-reward move.

Riis vs asante. Both the same age. Very little in it.
So Riis has 38 goals at this level and Asante 22. Thanks for proving my point. Youre comment was his goalscoring record was abysmal and worse than what we have which is wrong.

Tbh he's just a useful player, you just need to have watched a bit of Championship football to know this. When you look at the stats last season he compares favorably to both BTA and Simms but even if he didn't its flawed as you aren't comparing apples to apples. Simms and BTA both play in a far far better team. PNE are crap and the football they play is dire.

PNE aren’t that bad a side, we lost more than they did this season. Their issue was their they drew far too many games.

The ‘he plays in a crap team’ goes so far because PNE have finished in and around us in most of the seasons Riis has been there. The outliers being this season and 22/23.

His goal tally this season was respectable, better in 21/22 season and between those years his numbers are less impressive.

That all said, I’ve not watched PNE or him to get a feel for what he’s about and the numbers are just on a spreadsheet without much context. If he joins, I’ll back him all the way.

This is it Chris, we can all speculate, but as has been said before, we are fans not football recruitment experts. I trust CCFC to do the right thing and bring in the right players, we just have to wait and see

Riis is without doubt a better footballer,
I'm sure he'd score plenty of goals given the service that he'd receive here.

He's also better in the air than Simms or BTA and can play with his back to goal, which none of our strikers are capable of doing.

What are you basing that on?
He is appalling in the air. He rarely even attempts to jump for headers, just backs into defenders & often fouls them instead.

Simms won 41.8% of his aerial duels last season (82nd percentile)
Riis won 30.3% (14th percentile)

That is surprising. I don't recall Simms winning many aerial duels.

I guess the ball bouncing off him and going to the opposition counts as 'winning' an aerial duel...
Well go check this out, then come back to me if you honestly believe Simms is better!

As for your stats BS, we would never of signed Gyokeres based off his "stats"
That's why we employ talent scouts!

Just fuckin No.

Doesn’t offer anything above and beyond what we already have.

Typical City fans who never look at bigger picture and only see what happens when they play against us.
