Because I think he did. There were other factors, as the 2 ties went on, that added to it, but looking at facts, at 1-1 and a 1-0 lead at theirs, we go through. With a 2-1 loss and a 1-0 win it's only good enough to get us to extra time which we all know how that finished. There were plenty of things we could've done different, HW not missing a free header was one. HW not being on the pitch should've been another. But the main factor was the thing we have done repeatedly week after week, not just in the play-offs, but almost every week of the regular season, it was giving away cheap, soft, and easy goals.

Either way, I've got much better things to be doing on a bank holiday weekend Saturday evening than dredge over old ground that we'll clearly never agree on so I'll happily agree to disagree, bid you a good evening, and hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Which I've said i understand and which is why i won't dig him out and don't think he deserves digging out. However, gifting them a 2-1 lead certainly played to their hands and certainly had a serious impact on the outcome of the 2nd tie. In the grand scheme of things, it was a huge, and undeniably, crucial error that had a huge impact on the final outcome.

Anyway, as I said to ccfc sparks, I've said my bit and shared my opinion. It's in the past and going over it again isn't going to change it, regardless of anyone's view or opinion.

I think it's just the irony, the player that cost us the final/chance of PL promotion, is the player most likely to get the big move to the premier league regardless. He was gutted and distraught after the game, but that'll all be forgotten when he's earning £50k a week sitting on Evertons bench next season.

How did he cost us? If it wasnt for him we’d have lost without even scoring…

As shit as HW has been, his missing that chance wasn't a big or as crucial a moment as MVE gifting them a lead in the manner he did. I don't think a single person on this forum would still of had HW on the pitch at 89mins of the 2nd leg. Without gifting that goal, a 1-0 win on the night was enough. HW isn't needing to make that header.

And without MvE we dont have the equaliser for 1-0 to be enough and the exact same result happens where we lose but dont score a single goal

No i didn't. I said that was the most crucial mistake. I never said that was the only reason we lost. Unless I'm mistaken. Show me where I've said that? You can't, because I didn't. I said it was the most crucial moment, which is in my opinion, it was. Without that it's 1-1 and we win at theirs easily. As the game happened we needed HW to score and he didn't. But without the MVE fuck up, HW missing at the end is irrelevant.

To me the most crucial mistake came with Wilson Isidor’s goal in the 1st leg. Mis-communication between the backline and Bobby tries to play him off but if we actually tried to defend it we may have not conceded

Callum burned all his bridges here, a place where he was loved and idolised for a better shot at Premier League Football - Ended up losing in the play offs, the same as us and being benched for all three matches

The extra 5k or whatever it was a week on his payslip will soften the blow but purely football wise, he surely has to be feeling a little bit stupid now

Truth is we aren't anywhere near ready for the PL yet, and it would be shit getting battered every week (although the money would be nice)

Let Frank bring in some real quality and we'll start next season with some real excitement and expectation.

Of course id love to of got promoted, but the fact is, the Championship is way more exciting than the Premier league.

We'll never be good enough to be considered Premier league ready, I doubt many teams who go up are.

Just got to get there and see where it takes us.

Agreed when will people stop digging MvE out if it wasnt for him we wouldnt have scored, cost us 1 created 2 so his mistake is nothing in reality
You can say Collins cost us numerous points along with Ben Wilson, Bobby Thomas, Kitching, Dasilva, Sheaf, Simms, Wright etc etc...its a team effort and apart from Collins who was a total liability they all had their bad moments Milan was pretty good 2nd half of the season and is one of our most valuable players...PS Fuck Scumderland
