I'm not sure Sargent would suit our system. He isn't really a target man and doesn't play back to goal at Norwich as Sims is asked to do here.

I’ve not seen much of this Salech guy, is he really all that?
Think he signed for Cardiff in January and became their main man instantly. He’s fucking massive and, from what I’ve seen, very aggressive. Cardiff fans resigned to him leaving. Think he’s decent with the ball at his feet too.
Looks like he’d be an excellent signing.
Here’s hoping he got a relegation clause in his contract.

Stats over his career to date are close to Simms in a lot of areas. Given how many on here feel about Simms, it strikes me that people haven’t done their homework on Salech.

With the sums likely to be involved, this transfer is unlikely to happen.

You reckon he's worth the same as gyokeres?

Unlike Vik, Rudoni has 3 years left on his contract. If Vik had 2 years left on his contract rather than 1 in 2023, his value would’ve comfortably been £5+ million more than we got for him.

Players going to the Prem from the Championship for £25+ million is not unheard of. Frankly, we should dig our heels in for Rudoni because he’s our best player. His sale should be able to fund 2-3 top quality players minimum. I’d expect similar if we sold Haji or MVE.

I dunno if it’ll happen or not…haven’t heard any figures being mentioned or know how much we’ve got…but I thought we were just speculating?

He’s big, he’s aggressive, he’s likely to be leaving the relegated side, Cardiff fans/others saying he’s very good, has looked good when I’ve seen him(albeit not that much).
I haven’t looked at stats…other than wiki. Enlighten us!

Salech is the type of signing Doug will invest in, this player has not reached his potential yet but has already shown ability to handle the championship. And if we are interested in this player paying top money is not something we are shy of doing. He is the type i think we would target.

If we can find another option without the fee im sure those names are on a list too. Going be getting interesting very soon, clearing the decks has already started with more to come.

He is absolutely nothing like Simms.

He uses his size and is aggressive which are his main strengths. Simms on the other hand jumps around 5ft 7 and seems scared of anyone and everything.

Completely different FWs in ability and style of play, Selech is a natural footballer, Simms has natural physical attributes. I would prefer Simms with movement and a touch but unfortunately he doesn't have that footballing instinct. Salech has size, speed, touch, awareness and scores goals from outside as well as inside the box. If you think thats similar you either haven't watched Salech or haven't watched Simms to know the difference between the 2.

Aggression goes a long way. He may not be dissimilar in terms of playing style (don’t know enough about him) but if Simms could apply himself properly and utilise his physical attributes we wouldn’t be having the conversation about moving him on. It’s moot.

Yeh seems like a lot of people have already done the work. He's much better than Simms. You'd trade BTA and Simms for him in reality, if you could.

Id strangely really like to keep BTA - think he is good as a squad player but I don’t think he wants that.

Salech would be a really good signing imo.
BTA wants to be first choice I think. I don't dislike the guy but a lot of the time he looks like a dog with a tennis ball.
Think you could recycle the £3.5 million spent on him a lot smarter.

Sargent is the best striker in the league, if we got him we’d be top 3, sadly it’s never gonna happen though he’ll go the prem or back to Germany

But Simms can't trap or control a football, he can't hold the ball up, or even head the bloody ball.
He's simply missing all the basic attributes to be a footballer.
He's a carthorse that occasionally causes panic in the box.
We really do need to find better if we are serious about getting into the Premier league.

Salech is absolutely better than Simms at things; aerial duals, clearances, interceptions and tackles. This season he’s had more shots and goals in less minutes.

Areas he’s worse than Simms (per 90); pass completion, assists, xA, xG and xA combined, progressive carries. Frankly, the pass competition got me because Salech is in the bottom 1% of the league. That alone almost seems like it’d be a bad fit.

Best in mind that this is just this season only, comparing the two (and Wright’s) ‘entire career’ and there’s less daylight between the 2.

No doubt Salech looks like a really good find for Cardiff because he’s had a great half a season. The talk around him though is ridiculous; he’s not better than Wright and we’re not going to ‘trade’ BTA and Simms for him. He was signed for £3m and is contracted to 2029 so Cardiff will want around £8+ million for him. Sorry to burst the bubble, this signing isn’t happening.

Think of it this way, Simms scored 11 goals from NY to May 2024, there was paper talk that Brentford wanted him as a potential Toney-replacement… then he followed that up form with his worst season to date. That could happen to Salech and I wouldn’t go all in on a player who has had one good half season in English football.

At this point we have to assume you are related to Simms.
