I can absolutely assure you that Sunderland AFC will not be over confident next Tuesday.

Do you think we know nothing about football?

Sunderland went to your place with a game plan and they played it almost to perfection. the main question was - could we/Sunderland raise our game after 5 straight defeats - the answer was clearly yes.

I was slightly bemused by Coventry in the first half. Why when CCFC has score 19 goals from headers this season did they play these 40 yard lobbed balls over our central defenders? POMO tells everyone that once you play the ball over about 20 yards the chances of the right players getting the ball is about 5%.

Second half and Lampard corrected that and you started to get the crosses into the box - very dangerous. However when you have 10 men behind the ball it is and it doesn't matter who you are playing - very, very hard to break that defence down.

Sunderland played with 2 up front and on their day they are good pacy strikers.

Le Fee's ball for Isidor was absolutely superb. You will never see a better ball than that. 1 nil to Sunderland. whether it was deserved or not made no difference whatsoever as we did what was on the side of the tin - played on the break. Classic smash and grab.

Didnt take long for CCFC to equalise and it was a classic strike catching us just after we had scored. The header went in like a bullet and it was game on.

We were then under the cosh but defended for our lives and the second goal arrived, taken beautifully by Mayenda. The one think you can say about the lad who made the mistake is that in football he may be down tonight but as sure as eggs are eggs he will be your hero at some point in the future - because what goes around comes around.

Now for the Stadium Of Light.

I've been a football fan coming up 60 years and if I know this tie isn't over then I assume everyone else does as well. Us Sunderland fans will hope that we can pull it off and go to Wembley but that is by no means certain. CCFC score the first goal and its game on and in the preceding 60 years I've seen just about all the weird and wonderful ways there are of winning and losing football matches.

Sunderland's first win at coventry in 40 years - as one or two people guessed - it would have to happen in this type of game.

As Cruyff, the manager would tell you, possession means nothing - goals is what counts. You can talk all day long about who was the better side and who should have won - how lucky the opposition was etc. - and how they are a bunch of pricks - but at the end of the day 90 minutes football tells you who won. You either get all upset about it and make a load of excuses or you get off your arse and go and win the next game.

Coventry lost and you either take the loss with a bit of humility or twist on like a bairn - insulting the opposition and crying on. Nothing big and clever about the latter.

Both teams remain 90 minutes from Wembley.

It'll be some game next Tuesday; in front of what will now be a packed house.

I don't know what you are but there's no way you're a Sunderland supporter.

I suspect you're a Mag, if you think you can fool me let's go for it.

Wright has been shite since his hat trick against these lot.
EMC huffs and puffs but back from injury.

It was a very tight game of fine margins but both keepers had little to do. We were too safe especially first half. You have to utilise the fiery home support for the first 20 minutes and we didn’t. Lots of side and back passing. Too safe is my only criticism. Yes, a Milan mistake gifted them a 2nd but overall, too safe. It had 2 leg mentality vibes
Completely agree. Just got back feel flat.

Way too safe going forward and felt like the risky choices were in defence. Thomas trying for offside for the 1st and MVE not looking for the 2nd - incredibly frustrating.

Holy shit I know their midfield was non existent but I think we’ve still got to field one.
Rudoni is that midfielder :), and as I stated we could play grimes there instead did binks but I'd want to see the wing backs further up field.

We need to go at them from minute one not piss around with the ball for 40 passes before even making it to the half way line.

Let's be honest Tuesday we should have a little rehaul,

Simms wright
EMC. Rudoni. Sakamoto
Da Silva MVE
Binks kitchin Thomas
Wilson

Maybe we could play grimes instead of binks but I want to see more attacking play from our wing backs, I want them higher up the pitch and I don't want to see counter attacks break us apart like tonight.

You really know nothing about football if you would pick that team. That’s cheered me up after a bad night. Thank you

I prefer to listen to my immediate family who have been ST holders at WBA for 25 years thanks over someone who never admits he's wrong. Fair evaluation TBH
Yes cus having a season ticket automatically means you know football.

Have a look at their posts when the sale was announced.

People need to relax. It’s the away leg in a play off semi final. We’ll win it. We won 4-1 at Notts County. We won 1-0 at Middlesbrough. We’ll be fine. It’s just an extremely annoying night. But Sunderland were a poor side tonight. And now have a very strange predicament of whether they stick or twist.

Automatically your first response works on an assumption. Maybe they know the club better than you but surely not with your infinite knowledge of football and every other club under the planet

Just got in - disappointed to say the least. Thought Sunderland deserve some praise. Come with a game plan to keep it tight and play on the counter… wait for the mistake(s) they defended well.

Thought we had a lot of the ball without doing much. Was a bit frustrated with the looping balls constantly from Grimes where their keeper just kept gobbling them up.

we need to be more forceful around the box - lot do passing around then an aimless whip across.

was to be expected a tight cagey game. It’s only half time. Need to up our game and get quicker when we’re passing. The save at the end by Wilson was critical. That would have been tie over.

all in all - disappointed but everything to play for!

What has Robins got to do with this?

Any criticisms directed towards Lampard, no matter how tiny your response is always "yeah but Robins"
You literally are attacking lampard any chance you get because of your anti lampard agenda lmao

We were good for the draw. Same result we got 2 years ago in first elg. Were you kicking off then?

You have shown your true colours today. Your not down we lost. Your happy tyou could take a jab at lampard. Still not learnt your lesson from hull at home when you laughed at me saying lampard would get us up the table quick

Shown up as having an agenda and this will be used in the future.

Night night

We’ve scored more headers than most teams in Europe. Get Rudoni to buy a house in the Sunderland box and just lump it in there until something goes in.

Yes I’m disappointed we lost, but it’s only the first leg. We need to be better for the next game.

we were good for the draw but we didn’t get it. I actually would have been happy with a draw.

you need to go meditate you’re getting very emotional
