Heads up guys. I believe come Tuesday they will be fired up for MVE. I do feel going to SOL we can do it.
Sims should start second leg and we use Asante as our super sub.

Today is what I was fearing as the Laws of probability was on Sunderland’s side today and sooner or later they were going to get a result against us. This is how it goes.

We have another 90 mins to turn this around and I feel confident we can do it.

When are we going to put to the sword these vastly inferior sides. We need a bit of nouce around in and around the box with a bit of intelligent one two's. We play tight triangle in the middle third but slow it right down in the last. Still think we will go through as Sunderland cant possibly sit back and defend the entire game again ..surely?

I think we may get more joy in the away leg.

If they try and sit and defend a lead their fans will get tetchy.
Yeh difficult one for them to approach. You want to kill it off but starting a game in a winning position is different to the norm and mentally the temptation would be to sit back.
Personally don't think we need to go hell for leather early on there, it's just 1 goal.

Well that was a huge let down.
It's not even that we played badly - we controlled most of the game.
1st goal looked offside, but sky didn't really make much of that.
2nd goal was just a terrible pass from the otherwise excellent MVE.
Sunderland scored with their only 2 shots on target iirc.
Feel hard done by.
They had shots.

We wanted to fuck about with 43 touches first.

Probably one of the worst ref performances recently and that's saying something.

Gave them an extra 40 seconds at the end when they were time wasting much the whole second half.

Sakamoto fouled professionally by both O'Nien and Siskin multiple times (latter really should have been sent off a few times during that match).

Rudoni in one of the free kicks was being handled by the neck and nothing was given.

Sure there are some other decisions but these were the ones that stood out the most really.

Sunderland really aren’t a vastly inferior side.

I was in line with Kitching, he was playing him on for the first.

Maybe Haji Wright should have started... Oh he did. Awful show from him. Ben Wilson poor but that was always the risk. Sheaf not great.
Not sure what Wilson has done wrong really? Maybe a little too far out his goal for their second but we had the ball and Sunderland were no threat so teams expect a keeper to show nowadays. So his positioning for me was OK. It was the pass that fucked it. A better pass and Wilson is in the right position helping out his defence. That pass kills him off though

Big upgrade next season when Frank (hopefully) gets a window.

Was it that bad? Wright was useless but everyone else huffed and puffed against a team playing very deep. Would have taken Wright off for Simms at the same time BTA came off. If anything we were guilty of over-committing looking for the advantage in our home leg, but the ref played into their hands and we didn't adapt after their first couple of dangerous counters. Tie is far from over.
Yes it was that bad.

Should have started the same team as we did against Boro
I don't know why we didn't.

BTA played well in that game against a team being open because they had to attack, so he had space to run at them. He's not the man to play in this kind of game. Simms is ungainly, but he occupies defenders more.

I don't know what we do about Wright in the next game; that was so, so poor, and he has been for weeks, but when he's on it, he's too good for this league.
