The reduced tariff on cars applies to an annual quota less than equivalent to today's annual export volumes, sounds a bit like it's being oversold.

We’re not willing to give any credit
It’s mad and Farage can just say he’s not in trumps pocket - he is
The Brexit shit show was on him
NHS is safe ffs

Why won’t anyone take him on
It’s madness

Yeah now we want Farage because Starmer “sucks up to Trump”. Worlds gone mad Pete. Best to let it wash over you really. Internet has cooked everyone’s brains. We had a good run.

Who said anything about wanting Farage instead?

Ah the classic “secret third option” the British electoral system allows. How silly of me to forget. Anyway I’m sure the facsists will be really good for science. Let me just take a big swig of coffee and see how they’re getting on in the US…

All commentary I’ve heard has been positive so far but the devil might still be in the detail. Trump was keen to get a deal announced asap and think we’ve benefitted

The PiP stuff is shocking

No problem with the idea of farming inheritance but the figures need resetting

All politicians are stained with the shit that Boris tainted them with

I do pray we can sort it but fear people want to be sold unicorns and fairies

It is possible to be disappointed by all of the options. Our household is taking a direct financial penalty from Labour policy FFS.

Trump Nominates Dr. Casey Means for U.S. Surgeon General

President Donald Trump has nominated Dr. Casey Means to be the next U.S. Surgeon General, following the withdrawal of his previous nominee. Dr. Means, described as a wellness influencer with connections to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., graduated from Stanford University’s medical school but did not complete her residency and currently lacks an active medical license. Her nomination has sparked debate due to her unconventional background in holistic medicine rather than traditional medical practice.
Sounds great 🤪

Yea props to starmer , if we are to do brexit then atleast get on with it ..
Begs the question what the fuck were the tories doing for so long

The Tories wouldn’t have had to do a deal on Tariffs. Trump has managed to suddenly make tariffs of 10% look good.

Listening to peston today the general consensus is that this is a pretty fair deal for the UK , and will save plenty of jobs an create others .

My point is that in 9 years we barely moved at all , in a couple of months weve negotiated trade deals with 2 of the biggest economies in the world

I don't disagree that Tories basically did nothing unless you count leadership elections but I'm pretty sure I read that the deal with India has been about three years in the making.

So tariffs on China coming back down again for a bit, although still higher than before. What happened to the 4D chess that Trump was playing to get manufacturing jobs back to America?

Yesterdays news
Today...and the next few days.

What did Trump say at Riyadh summit?
Donald Trump is now off stage in Riyadh.

He was speaking after Saudi Arabia earlier made a $600bn "commitment to invest in the United States", including a $142bn arms deal.

Here's what Trump covered during his wide-ranging speech at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Centre:

Trump called the US-Saudi relationship the "bedrock of security and prosperity", adding the two countries' relationship was "more powerful than ever";

He lavished Mohammed bin Salman with praise, saying he had "proved the critics totally wrong" over the past eight years;

He said the future of the Middle East is "defined by commerce, not chaos" and said the "golden age of the Middle East" is on the horizon;

He also said it's his dream for Saudi Arabia to join the Abraham Accords;

He attacked Iran for causing "unthinkable suffering" in several countries in the region - but offered them an "olive branch" with the prospect of a deal;

And said his team will head to Turkey this week for talks between Ukraine and Russia, with Marco Rubio due to attend;

He also revealed that the US plans to lift sanctions on Syria after talks with MBS and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Saudi Arabia. 🙄 That country of virtue and upstanding.

We deal with them too of course.

We are so quick to criticise and label some regimes as awful, but the Saudis always appear to be our friends.

The world is a very strange place at times.

‘Small government’

All manner of bills are proposed in the US houses, most of them fail, many seem a bit bonkers.

Here is a list of them at various stages, knock yourself out.

I wonder what the people who were fine with that guy being deported to El Salvador because he wore a Chicago Bulls hat think of this:

17 family members of notorious cartel leader enter U.S. in deal with Trump administration, Mexico says

Mexico's security chief confirmed Tuesday that 17 family members of cartel leaders crossed into the U.S. last week as part of a deal between a son of the former head of the Sinaloa Cartel and the Trump administration.

Mexican Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch confirmed a report by independent journalist Luis Chaparro that family members of Ovidio Guzmán Lopez, who was extradited to the United States in 2023, had entered the U.S.

Guzmán Lopez is one of the brothers left running a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel after notorious capo Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán was imprisoned in the U.S. Video showed the family members walking across the border from Tijuana with their suitcases to waiting U.S. agents.
