How many Pakistani's are there in India?

My only knowledge is that they won't let Pakistani cricketers or commentators into the country. Not even BBC employees who have any Pakistani heritage are able to get a visa to cover England.

Yeah even kids, a couple on that Freddie Flintoff documentary weren't allowed to travel. No threat at all and a real shame for them.

Found a couple of articles that say..
In 2011 980,000 Pakistani citizens live in India, most are Hindu or Sikh.
About 15% of India's population is Muslim.
Around 5000 Hindus each year migrate from Pakistan to India.

And do not forget both countries have nuclear weapons.😬

Really unnerving situation. Makes the announcement of a trade deal with us look f*cking awful. Got the UK onside, time to crack on.

Nothing to do with cricket just racial violence
Nobody is ever prepared to accept that there might be some reason, however pathetic or disproportional, for violence other than mindless racial violence.
This was presumably on national and religious divides, not skin colour as per @shmmeee s brown people argument. How is this explained. Two groups of young men of ostensibly similar appearance being pissed off enough with each other to cause some disturbances. I wonder what the justice system outcome was.

🇮🇳🆚🇵🇰INDIA–PAKISTAN ESCALATION: WHAT IS KNOWN SO FAR?

▪️India launched Operation Sindoor and carried out strikes on what it called “terrorist infrastructure” in Pakistan.

▪️New Delhi stated that no Pakistani military sites were targeted and that the actions were not intended to escalate tensions.

▪️Despite this, Pakistan responded by launching missile strikes on targets inside India.

▪️Reports soon emerged that Pakistani air defenses had shot down three Indian aircraft, including two Rafale fighter jets. Islamabad later claimed five fighters had been downed.

▪️Pakistan claimed 8 people were killed and another 35 wounded as a result of the Indian attacks. New Delhi, in turn, reported 3 deaths from cross-border gunfire.

▪️The Pakistani prime minister stated that the country has “every right to give a strong response” to India’s strikes, while the foreign ministry condemned the attacks as a "blatant act of war."

▪️Pakistan’s defense minister later said that Islamabad is ready to de-escalate military action if New Delhi pulls back.

I'm pretty sure it was a cricket match that started it and it escalated from there.

The sort of knee jerk racist reaction UK right wing is accused of by e.g, @shmmeee. The left are fundamentally no better - I wonder if this response is party approved.

Sultana always comes across as a strident hysterical bitch to me. How long before some extreme reaction arises in Coventry.

She is currently suspended as a Labour MP. She is a pound shop Naz Shah and you have to work hard to achieve that

I forgot she had already blotted her copy book. Won’t have changed her fundamental political loyalties though.

MPs losing the whip should face a by election On principle. Would they have got elected as independents? Their campaigns were supported by main stream party resources and I can see how limited the Labour Party are saying they are. Or they should have to repay the cost of the campaign. That would save the additional costs of having to run a second campaign, for all parties.

May as well go full party list at that point. I think MPs should be able to vote with their conscience. What if the government wanted to bulldoze their constituency? Surely it would be OK to break the whip there?

We get this argument a lot and it boils down to "Well I thought I was voting in an entirely different system and so it should work how I thought it did and not how it actually does". Although it doesn't feel like it the party system is kind of irrelevant to how government/MPs operate. It's just the voters are uber tribal.
