Looks like the club have brought in some external fitness coaching for some of the players. There is a post on instagram from lpfitness tagging Jay Da Silva explicitly.

This is a good thing, I don't think the team's fitness level has looked anything like it did last season or the one before, despite what Douglas reckons.

Dean and Claire really are stealing a living at this club. “Top 6 deck” and “fittest ever” won’t have come from Doug’s personal observations.

People were wrongly questioning the work of Dr Claire earlier in the season but isn’t this the area she was brought in to improve?

I think it’s obvious we are not as fit as we should be. Always seem to be second to 50/50’s and loose balls.

If its not the area she was brought into improve why did King talk about how fit the squad was when he was defending her?

I don’t know, I can’t remember exactly what was said during the forum if I’m honest. But if that’s how it went down then yes, I guess so.

It really depends on the interpretation of fitness. e.g. You could be extremely "fit" to run 100m fast, but very "unfit" if covering 12km box to box as a midfield player with 15% of that distance undertaken at top speed.
Hence, the generic use of "fitness" is not helpful ....as level is specific to the type of activity.

Isn't Chris Jones a fitness coach? Hopefully he can have a positive impact.

I would think when they refer to fitness they’re probably talking about objective testing - eg lactate testing or similar.

You would hope that’s the level we’re at as a club. Obviously that doesn’t always directly translate to results on the pitch.

Yes, but he's also a coach. I thought that was his remit here but probably some cross over

If its true its a good thing, we need to be fitter and stronger and be able to see games out.

Really? I remember a few seasons back half the team were dead on their by half time.
Doesn't seem too bad now.

TBF on the fitness testing, given that we have spent hardly any of the season ahead in matches we might well look tired as we're literally chasing the game most of the time. Only 3 teams in the division have spent last time trailing than us all season:

Isn’t one of the new coaches Lampard brought in specialise in Fitness coaching?

Think that's Chris Jones who was mentioned earlier.
He's a fitness coach but also a coach. Think his remit was coaching when he worked under Lampard before but as I mentioned earlier, there's probably some cross over.

To be fair we have won the joint most points after the 75th minute.

And second most net points won/lost after 75th minute.

The best one is the video where we kind of spins around and points at the camera and says, "join the journey".
It's the same video!

Frankly insane that not even six months after buying the club, he decided to launch season ticket prices by posing in his underwear - and people actually liked it!

Players have a day off today.
Possibly Dasilva doing a bit extra?
I do know that when Lampard came in with his team, they were not impressed by the fitness levels of the players.
